Direct Speech and Reported Speech The content of this period: Revising the Direct Speech and Reported Speech

The Learning Situation Analysis: On the basis of analyzing the learning situation of the students in Grade Two, I decide to revise this part mainly by doing more exercises. The students English is so poor that I need to present this part as if we hadn’t learned it before. So I design my lesson in a simple and direct way. Teaching Aims Knowledge aim: Students can know what is direct speech or what is reported speech, and build up a network of the grammar. Ability aim: Students can use what they learned to exchange the sentences between direct speech and reported speech correctly and flexibly in different situations. Emotional aims: Students can develop a sense of cooperation and be ready to overcome difficulties in study. Teaching Key Points Students can understand the differences between the direct speech and reported speech

correctly. Teaching Difficult Points

Help students to understand and learn how to exchange the sentences between the direct speech and reported speech in their real life. Teaching Methods Communicative teaching approach; Situational teaching method Teaching Aids Multi-media, blackboard Teaching Procedures

Step 1: Greeting and homework checking. (I will use about 5 minutes to check students’ homework by asking them to answer it individually or together. Step 2: Presentation: (by multi-media) Design several activities to present what we will deal with in this period. Activity 1: Review the definition Ask students what direct speech and reported speech are. If they can’t remember it, I will ask show some sentences ,ask them to exchange some sentences first, which will help them draw a conclusion.

e.g. The boy said, “I’m

reading a book.”

→The boy said that he was reading a book. Activity 2: Review how to change the direct into reported speech. (individual work)

Allow students make a summary of the rules which we should follow when we exchange the sentences between direct speech and reported speech.

Conclusion:人称的变化: 一随主、二随宾、三不变

2. Do more practice to consolidate what they revised just. Error correction:

Activity 3: Help students to pay attention to the changes of the tenses while changing the direct speech

into reported speech.
