Unit 7 Abilities Revision Hua Ye from Guangfeng Middle School Teaching objectives:

To retell the story from the Reading section. 5. To write a recommendation letter. Teaching aids: a computer, a projector, a blackboard.

Teaching steps: Step 1 Warm up Greet each other and talk about World Environment Day with students.

Step 2 Look and say Students look at the pictures and say something about students’ abilities.

Step 3 Grammar 1.

Students talk about present abilities and abilities in the past with can or could. Students revise the usage of can/could/may to ask for permission. 2.

Do exercises to practice. 3.

Talk about the pictures and express strong feelings with What or How.

Step 4 Listening Listen to a short passage about a forest fire happened in Sichuan province. Then complete the table.

Step 5 Reading 1.

During the fire Talk about Lin Tao and the fire according to a bubble map. Then ask students to retell the story with group members according to these key words and phrases.

After the fire Students complete a double bubble map by themselves. Then show their maps to the class and talk about what happened after the fire.

Step 6 Writing 1.

Talk about how to write a recommendation letter with students. And give them some tips. 2.

Write their own letters carefully. 3.

Ask some of them to read their letters to the class. Students check and judge them together.

Step 7 Homework 1.

Finish the exercises in the exercise books. 2.

Try to help others with our own abilities in our everyday life.
