Step 1.Revision

First have a dictation about the words and expressions in unit 4 . Help students correct the mistakes in their homework.

Step 2

Presentation

First use some pictures to teach students some new words such as : amazing , strange , surprised , bright , light , and then get students to listen to the conversation between Hobo and Eddie and answer the following questions .

1)

What are Hobo and Eddie doing ?

2)

What did Eddie think it is ? 3)

What did Hobo think it is ? 4)

Did Eddie think it is a plane ? Why not ?

Read the dialogue in pairs . Then choose some pairs to act it out in class .

Step 3 Presentation

The world is full of amazing things . Can you tell me some amazing things ?

Look at the first picture in Part A and ask :

What can you see in the picture ?

( The Sun and the Earth ) Which is bigger , the Sun or the Earth ? Get

students to find and understand the sentence :

The Sun is about 1.300,000 times larger than the Earth .

Repeat with other pictures and find more amazing things .

Deal with some new language points such as : same , birth , stop doing sth / stop to do sth

Step 4 Practice

1.

Match the pictures with the sentences in Part A first , then practice reading the sentences by themselves .

2.

Ask students : Can you tell me some amazing things about elephants / the Earth / Human beings / fish ?

Step 5 Listen and practice

Kitty and Amy are talking about the fun facts in Part A . Listen to the conversation and tell me the following questions . which picture are they talking about ? What do they think of the facts ? Students read and act out the conversation in pairs . Step 6

Homework

1) Revise the language points in this period . 2. Do Period 1 in the workbook. 3.Preview the next lesson.
