短语be able to意思是“能够”，相当于can，

be able to可以有各种时态；而can只有一般现在和一般过去两种时态。

短语pay for意思是：为…付款。

He expected me to pay for his ticket. 他指望我给他付票钱。

I can't pay for the books now. 这些书我现在不能付款。
