I.

Teaching aims：

by the end of the lesson, students will be able to:

1. talk about different animals in the zoo with new words and phrases; 2. tell people where the place for each kind of animal is; 3. scan the passage to find the special information.

II. Teaching contents 1. New words and phrases: everybody, straight, on, bamboo, along, road, king, remember, that, dangerous, sound, forest, funny, laugh, giraffe, quite, neck, leaf, north-east, bridge, cross, all day long, make beautiful sounds, make people laugh 2. New structures: Go straight on and you’ll find the Panda House.

Walk along the road.

Turn left, and to the west of the Lion’s Area, you’ll find the World of Birds.

III. Focus of the lesson and predicted area of difficulty 1. To talk about the looks and the habits of the animals. 2. To learn how to get around the zoo and be a guide.

IV.Teaching procedures Step 1

Free talk. T:What did you do at the weekend?Did you have a good time? Have you ever been to the zoo? Today, I will take you to Sunshine zoo. Step 2 Pre-reading 1. Play a guessing game called what animal is it.From the context to learn some new words and phrases. 2. Work in pairs to talk about what animal do you like. 3.Complete B3 to have a good understanding of animals’ names and their features.

Step 3 While-reading 1. Watch and answer.(1) How many kinds of animals are mentioned in the article? (2) What are they? 2.Read it by yourselves to do T/F. 3. Careful reading.
