Step1 Warm up: 1.

Show the photo of Lisa to the Ss and ask them: What do you know about her? Then, the Ss say something about Lisa. Ss: Her name is ….

She is from….

She likes…..

She is Ma Tao’s cousin.

Her father/ mother is a….

…. (引导一下学生,但不要限制他们的答案,尽可能地让他们用不同的句型和词汇描述关于Liza 的信息。) 2.

Watch a video about Australia and answer:

What can you see in the video? What do you think of Australia? Do you want to go to Australia?

(通过直观有趣的视频,让学生对澳大利亚这个国家有一个大致的了解,并且激发他们去了解这片神奇的土地的欲望,自然而然地进入到课文的学习中去。)

Step2 While-reading 1.

Scan the text and find out: When is Australian Day?

(It’s on 26

January.)

What animal is it?

(It’s a koala.) Which city is it?

(It’s Sydney.) Then, check the answers. While checking, help the Ss to know how to read “on 26 January” and “koala”. (通过回答以上几个比较简单的问题,引导学生学会查读、快速浏览找到关键信息,并把握住文章的大概内容。同时,引导学生学会拼读新单词koala,并注意日期的读法。)

How long does the koala sleep a day? Then, check the answers. While checking, help them to understand the meaning of “look like”, “climb trees and eat leaves”, “cute”. After that, ask the Ss to introduce the koala as a guide in a zoo.

(本段新知识点不多,新单词street trees很多学生都能猜出含义,我主要将侧重点放到朗读本段和在情境中运用所学介绍Sydney的环节中。)

5. Listen to the whole text and repeat.

6. Read out the whole text by themselves. (给一定时间让学生消化课文内容,朗读课文,为后面根据黑板关键词复述课文做好准备。)

给学生提供一个模板,引导学生模仿课文结构,运用以往所学,介绍中国、国宝熊猫和家乡武汉,语言输出从机械性地复述课文内容过渡到半开放性的口头作文中去。学生在六年级上学期已学习过有关首都北京、熊猫和家乡武汉的短文,所以对学生而言,有一定语言储备,完成这项内容应该不是很难。)

教学反思:

本课我主要采取了读前,读中和读后的教学模式,思路比较清晰, 教学目标明确。

读前,我通过出示Liza照片,请学生描述有关她的信息,复习巩固前面几课所学。然后播放了一个关于澳大利亚的短视频并提问:

What can you see in the video? What do you think of Australia?, 让学生对澳大利亚的风土人情、地理风貌有一个大致的印象,同时很好地激发了学生去了解这片神奇的土地的欲望,自然而然地导入到新课的学习中去。

读中,我主要是设计了初读和分段细读的环节。初读部分,出示课文中的三幅插图并提问:When is Australia Day? What animal is it? Which city is it?, 请学生快速找出答案,意在训练学生快速查找信息、把握文章大意的能力。细读环节,我采取分段阅读的方式,通过T/F、answer the questions等问题设计和图片等直观方式,引导学生边读边理解新词、新句的含义,深入把握课文内容。同时,除了听音跟读、齐声朗读、分组朗读比赛等方式外,我还创设了一些情境让学生巩

固和运用所学语言,如假设你是一名guide, 向游客介绍koala和Sydney。

读后,我主要设计了以下两个环节:1. 根据黑板关键词复述课文内容:

2.模仿课文,向Liza介绍你的国家中国、国宝熊猫和家乡武汉。在第二个环节中,我出示了相关句型模板,学生在六年级上学期学过有关中国首都、熊猫和武汉的课文,有一定语言储备,所以完成起来不是很难。读后其实还有一个环节,即关上课本,用给出的词完成短文填空的练习,但由于课堂时间有限,而且此练习的教学目的和复述课文有相同之处,所以课堂上我略作调整,将这个练习作为homework布置下去。

本节课进行比较顺利,觉得设计比较好的方面是创设了情境让学生运用语言,如假设你是一名tour guide,向游客介绍Sydney,假设你是a guide in a zoo, 向游客介绍koala。学生举手回答的积极性很高,虽然有的学生有一些小的语音问题,但基本都能完整介绍出来。读后模仿课文内容介绍中国及家乡、熊猫这个环节,学生很感兴趣,课前几分钟练习纸刚发下去时,有的学生已经在动脑筋试着说。

不足之处:1、教学用语有时重复过多。因为本校地处武汉市偏远农村,学生基础比较薄弱,所以有时候怕学生听不懂,课上教学用语会重复几遍,有的时候还会用中文解释。以后应尽可能语言简练,创设全英文的教学氛围。

2. 最后一个环节,练习时间有点赶。关于介绍Wuhan的这一段,学生的语言运用还不够丰富,如

it’s one of the biggest cities in China, it’s a city of rivers and lakes, it’s a city by the river,There’re many gardens and parks around the lake….等以前学过的句型很少有学生用进去。这可能和教师在设计练习时,句型模板限制了他们的回答有关,在指令语中也没有告知学生还可以用其他的句型描述。那在下一次课请学生make a report时,教师应当在这方面予以点评和引导。
