Unit 7 It’s raining

1. 4. Teaching procedures Step 1:Leading in Teacher shows a short video about weather report, and ask:“What is the video about?” Then show some pictures of different cities like Beijing, Shanghai, Yinchuan and Nanning. Then lead the students to find different weather in different cities. Then, Teacher asks the students, “How to describe the weather in English? Today we are going to learn something about weather!” In this way, We can lead in the topic of the class. Step 2: Presentation Activity 1: Listening Teacher will play the recorder, students listen and find out the words about weather. Students read the words with teacher’s help.

T: Can you fill the blanks on your text book? Students will fill in the blanks. T: I will play the recorder again, and you can check your answers on your book. Students will check their answers according to the recorder.

Activity 2: Speaking Students will read the text after the tape. Step 3: Practice Teacher will divide the class into four groups. T: You can imagine you were in different cities. Please talk about the weather with your partners. Students will talk about the weather with their partners, then share their ideas with their friends. Step 4: Production Guessing Game Lead students to play a game named guessing game. T: I want two students to come to the front. One will do some gestures by using body languages, while the other will guess what he or she is doing. The group who uses the least time will be the winner. Students begin to compete. I will declare which group is the winner. After the activities, I will give a short introduction of the present continuous tense. T: The present continuous tense is used when

something occurs at the moment. Its structure is “be + doing”.

I will write an example that is “ My mother is watching TV.”

Step 5:Summary and homework Students will summarize the knowledge of the lesson. T: We have learned how to describe the weather and use the present continuous tense. Now I will ask some of you to answer my questions. The teacher will call the students to answer the following questions. Q1: How’s the weather today in our hometown? Q2: What are you doing now? Students will give me the answers according to the real situations. I will ask students to write an weather report according to the present continuous tense after class. 5.
