Teaching design Theme : word review lesson Abstract: word review lesson is the end of word learning during the whole learning process in senior middle school. Only the effective teaching design can help students combine what they have learnt before to make use of the knowledge flexibly, so that their integrate ability can by enhanced, including listening, speaking, reading and writing. 一．

Teaching aims: Teaching content:

Review grade 2, textbook 8 unit 2 Cloning Teaching analysis:

The word review lesson focuses on the topic “cloning”. While retelling the process of cloning and advantages and disadvantages of cloning, teacher helps students to recollect important words in this unit. The process includes self-study, interact-study and presentation. In addition, students have to recreate the words they learnt, writing a given-topic composition made up of 100 words.

Students in grade 3 are usually unwilling to speak in English, therefore, making these words a story can stimulate students to better their English-using ability. Teaching knowledge aims: Words: differ, commercial, undertake, pay off, procedure, objection, impact, obtain, attain, moral, conservative, forbid, resist Teaching ability aims: Use the words in this unit to retell the process of cloning and advantages and disadvantages of cloning. Teaching moral aims: Get students interested in high- tech, become determined in study and devote themselves to make the world a better place to live in. 二．Teaching procedure and method Using assigned teaching method to organize group discussion, teacher let students form 8 groups the whole class.

Step1: Students pick up the words they think are important and refer to the dictionary when necessary.

Step 2: Each student is responsible for three words to illustrate the main use of them and make themselves understood by other members in their group, after which, the four member analyse each word together to decide how much uses should be reviewed. Step 3: Each group choose two representative to make a presentation of the eight words they are responsible for. Step 4: Teacher make up the missing words which are important in this unit. Step 5: Homework: write a small composition containing all the key words teacher and students pick up. 三．Teaching introspection: Students should be the focus in an effective English class rather than teacher. The presentations of students help teacher make clear what the weak points are in their students, according which, teacher make

necessary adjustments to the content in the textbook to satisfy the practical needs of students.
