M1U1 (Period 1) Content: P2 Look and say

Basic aims: 1. To know the words: hello, hi, goodbye. 2. Using formulaic expressions to greet people. e.g., Hello. Hi. Goodbye! 3. Using formulaic expressions to introduce themselves. e.g. I’m…, Language focus: Exactly read the words: hello, hi, goodbye and understand the meaning of them. Procedures:

Step Methods and activities 一、Warming up Talking with the kids. Teacher hints students that what they should say to each other or their teachers when they meet to elicit “hello” and “hi”; And what they should say to each other when they go home after school.

二、Meet new friends

1. Teacher takes out two puppets and introduce

4. Teacher tells students that two puppets will leave to elicit “goodbye”. One puppet says “Goodbye” first, and then another puppet answers “Goodbye”, and they walk away. Teacher says “Goodbye!” to students to make them says “Goodbye!” back.

三、Practice in groups 1. Teacher asks students to greet to her in groups. 2. Play the cassette . Students repeat. 3. Divide students in pairs to practice how to greet by using “hello”, “hi”, “goodbye”.

四、Sum up and practice Teacher asks one student to come to the front to greet to the class first, carrying one puppet, to make the rest of the class to greet back to enhance the corporation of the students.
