Lesson Plan Sub-topic: The ant and the grasshopper

Period: The 3rd period

Teacher: Melody

Sub-task: To do a role-play for the story

Background analyses: This is the third period of this unit. In grade one and grade two, students have learned words about seasons. Students can use verbs and modeled sentence to describe the activities they like doing in different seasons such as ‘I like … In spring / summer / autumn / winter.’ Today, They’re going to enjoy an allegorical story. They will experience the comparison between the laziness and hedonism of the grasshopper and the hardworking of the ants. The sub-task of this period is to do a role-play for the story. The students are involved in fulfilling the task when they are eager to know the story little by little and really like to retell it with their classmates and group members. Objectives: 1. To indicate some animals.

e.g., ant, grasshopper

2. To indicate some activities.

e.g., get some food / water

3. To express one’s likes.

e.g., I like (doing) …

4. To understand the main ideas of the story through making dialogues and doing a role-play. Difficult Points: To use the key pattern correctly and properly

Ss: Look at the cover and talk about it.

Ss: Look at the pictures and listen to the whole story.

Activity 11: Read the whole story (pic1-4) Ss: Read the story silently.
