Teaching Objectives Xue Lijiao, Zhou Zhuang Middle School I. Teaching objectives: By the end of this class, students are expected to: 1.

Know more about jobs and work places. 2.

Be able to grasp information from the teaching materials. 3.

Use sentences to talk about their future jobs. 4.

Learn to help others in the community.

II. Teaching Procedures: Step one: Before-listening Talk about some jobs and what people can do through these jobs. (Purpose: Review words about jobs, and introduce the topic: They are all the volunteers in the community so as to make preparation for today’s listening practice.) Step two: While-listening 1. Complete exercise in A2 and introduce two listening skills:

1) Grasp key information from the listening material; 2) Write part of the letter if time is limited. 2. Complete exercise in A3 and let students predict some missing information.

(During these two teaching procedures, introduce Wendy and her families. Tell students they are also the volunteers in the community.) 3. Listen to the Speak up and answer two questions 1) What is Daniel going to be in the future? 2) What about Simon? Step Three: After-listening Activity one: Discuss what Wendy’s families can do for the community.

Activity Two: Have an interview with your friends or partners: what are you going to be in the future?

Activity Three: Compete for the volunteer work in the community.
