1 Analysis of the teaching material 1) The status and function This lesson is used for Grade 3, It is a listening and speaking lesson. The topic is about body parts, so the function of this lesson is to learn some words about body. 2) Analysis of the students Students in Grade 3 are full of curiosity, they are active and they have a good perception of visual materials. They like games, competition as well as various activities. This topic is about body parts, so they might be interested in it. Thus the most important thing for me is that I should arouse their interest in learning.

3) Teaching aims and demands: Knowledge aim:

Enable the students to master: head, hand, arm, leg and foot, and enable students to use the sentence: What’s this? This is the… to introduce their body parts. Ability aim 1. To train students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and recognizing as well. 2. Enable students to make a simple description of their body parts. 3. Enable students to use the sentences in our daily communication.

Emotion aim To cultivate students’

consciousness of physical exercising, thus improving their general health. 4) Key point and difficult point 1. Enable students to listen and speak, read and recognize these new words: head, hand, arm, leg and foot as well as the sentence. 2. Enable students to understand the direction on let’s do. 2 Teaching methods and teaching aids Teaching method: Direct Method, Audio-Lingual Method, Total Physical Response(TPR), Game teaching method Teaching aids: PPT, blackboard and a DIY puppet. 3 Teaching procedures Step1 Lead in and warming up Listen to a song:Head,shoulder, knees and toes. Ask students what words they could understand in this song. The purpose is to attract students interest and stimulate the phenomenon, and ask them some questions: Did you remember what we have learned in last lesson, Let’s have a free talk! Review the conversation in last lesson. Step 2 Presentation

T: Did you remember some words about facial features? Let’s have a review! Then I will present a picture about Wang Yuan( a famous person comes form TFboys) to review the words. The purpose of this step is to make a connection between past lesson and new lesson,

as well as stimulate students’ interest. T: Chen Jie and Mike are making a puppet, let’s have a look! /h/ /h/ /h/, /e/ /e/ /e/,“head, head head”, highlight the pronounciation, pay attention to its phonetic pronounciation, read the words three times, ask one group to read the words one by one. (The remaining words will be present like above). Assessment: those group which read the words right can get a leave ( a kind of praise) Step 3 Practice Play the listening materials for students, ask students to imitate the pronounciation. Present six pictures of body parts on PPT, and ask each group to say the words directly. “what’s this?”

2 Games playing

1.What is missing. 2.Play a game “big voice or small voice” to consolidate the words.

( The purpose is to train their ability of quick response.) 3 I say, you do. T: “Look at me, what’s this? It’s the...” After saying that, I will paste the puppet on the blackboard. Then I will invite 2 students to go to the dais to practice. One student point one body part and ask: what is this? The other students say: this is the..., and then paste the puppet on the blackboard.

( The purpose is to practice students’

ability of recognizing the words and practice their oral English.)

Step 4 Let’s do

T: Well, today we have learned some new words about body parts, we should enhance exercising to improve our general health (The purpose is to cultivate students’

consciousness of physical exercising, thus improving their general health.) T: Now everybody stand up! Let’s do. Then play the flash twice and present every picture to learn these sentence and then play a game “ Simon says”

Step 5 Homework

Listen to the tape three times and imitate the pronunciation 2)

Read Let’s do, tomorrow I will invite 3 group of students to play the game “you say, I do”

In the teaching of my design, I am quite satisfied with the following points: Firstly, I design lots of activities that could be helpful in my class and it might attract students’

interest of learning. The atomosphere of this lesson is easy and happy. Students have mastered these words and they have a good performance in let’s do

Need to be improved: Perhaps the teaching pace is quite quickly, the practicing time has not been assigned

properly, and the words practicing is not enough for students to master these words, thus I should think about more ways to make the output better in my following teaching.
