Teaching Plan of Book 8 Unit 5 Meeting your ancestors – Learning about language 1.教学目标 知识与技能

1). Get students to learn and review the key words and expressions in this part: regardless of , cut up, fed up with, look ahead, date back to. 2). Get the students to do some exercise related to the useful language points in in this unit. 文化与策略

1). Guide students to cooperate with each other in class through discussion and pair work. 2). Encourage students to achieve the basic usage of the useful patterns with the use of different “tasks” in class. 情感态度与价值观

1). To arouse students’ great interest and motivation in English learning.

2). To develop students’ awareness of cooperative learning.

2. 重点难点 1). 重点：The key point of this lesson is to get students to review the key words and expressions in this unit and consolidate the usage of them through the exercise in class. 2). 难点：The difficult point is to encourage students to use the expressions and useful patterns to make some sentences. 3教学对象 1).学生已有知识和经验

Students’ English level in Yangshan Middle School is comparatively low. Based on what we have learned in previous lessons, this course aims at improving their basic knowledge and emphasize the importance of the useful expressions in Book 8 Unit 5. 2). 学生学习方法和技巧

Group discussion and pair work will help students play an active role in this course. Through cooperative learning，students can achieve more in his or her English learning compared with traditional class. 3）学生个性发展和群体提高

Student-centered patter has replaced teacher-centered pattern in my present course. Students can be mentally developed through their classroom participation and classroom discussion. 4.教学思路 Students’ English level in Yangshan Middle School is comparatively low, and this course aims improving their basic knowledge and emphasize the importance of the useful expressions in unit 5. The whole class is made up of seven steps, including showing a video clip about Peking man site and present some new words,

the revision of the words and expressions, group competition, sentence translation, the application of language, summary and homework. Playing games and making stories is a frequent item in my class, which aims to reduce students’ vocabulary, build students’ confidence and emphasize students’ English output in class. After learning and reviewing the key words and phrases in this unit, students are required to have a group competition using the above key phrases. Students are invited to translate some sentences using the sentence patterns. Classroom discussion and group work are included. 5. 教学方法

活动2【单词识记和练习】Review and learn the words and do some exercise. In this step, students can review and learn the key words we have learned in Unit 5. And Replace the underlined parts with words that have the same meaning in this unit. Rewrite the sentence when necessary.

活动3【活动】Play a game to Challenge your memory. eg. I say a word “starvation”, one of you says “sharpen”, another student says “seashell” , and another student says “s….” in this unit in order to memorize the new words. 活动4【词汇拓展和练习】Expand some important words and do some exercise ,using the word expansion in the context. 活动5【词组互译和练习】

In this step, students can review and learn the key phrases we have learned in Unit 5. And then doing exercise. 根据短文内容和提示，用本单元所学的词汇、短语以及句型完成下面短文。Sentence Translation
