Teaching plan for attributive clause 1.

Analysis of the teaching materials

The attributive clause is a very important English grammar point, one of the college entrance examination contents, and is also a difficulty. Having mastered the grammar,students will do well in their English study and examinations as well as interpersonal communication and solving problems in English.It accounts for a large proportion in the college entrance examination, Even in students compositions, easily writing several attributive clauses can add lights to the composition. Therefore, we are going to focus on that through induction, interpretation, analysis,application and so on. 2.

Analysis of the students

In the former course, they already had some basic knowledge of attributive clause.But the level of the students in my class is generally low, the ability to understand and apply knowledge is even lower, so it is necessary to learn it from the foundation and guide students to do some mechanical imitation. on this basis,I ‘ll try to enhance the level of understanding and strive to make as many students as possible achieve the mastery of the grammar.However,on the other hand, they are interested in English and want to know more about it.So, It is important to design some interesting activities for them to participate. 3.

Teaching objectives

Knowledge objectives:

master the basic structure and functions of attributive clause

Understand the definition of antecedents, relative pronouns and relative adverbs Distinguish the usage between relative pronouns and relative adverbs in attributive clause. ability objectives: Enable students to make sentences containing attributive clauses in a real situation

Encourage students to take active parts in cooperative learning to develop theirs’ ability of analyzing and problem solving. Emotional objectives: Stimulate students’ interest in English and make them realize the practicability of grammar

Build up the cultural confidence by introducing Chinese in English. 4.

According to the characteristics of the lesson, in order to improve the teaching efficiency, I will adopt the guidance and discovery teaching method combined with induction and deduction. And make each student fully involved in the learning activities by creating teaching situations.The students will learn the grammar by experiencing learning ,inquiry learning and cooperative learning approaches. These methods can not only make the students master the knowledge actively, summarize the structure of the attributive clause, and even set up grammar application consciousness in problem solving and writing. What’s more,they will also build up their cultural confidence by explaining Chinese terms in English.

Teaching procedures

Step 1. Leading in

Show some pictures and describe the pictures with attributive clause. Get students to have a basic impression of attributive clause Step 2. observing and thinking

Ask students to read the sentences aloud and analyze the sentence structures

Show a video about relative pronouns and relative adverbs for them to enjoy (Students will know the definition of antecedents, relative pronouns and relative adverbs)

Guide students to draw a map to show the structures of attributive clause and think about the functions Step 3.learning by deduction

Show some sentences to describe pictures given.and ask students to finish off the attributive clauses.

Step 4.playing games

There are some questions behind each picture.ask some students to choose different pictures and answer the questions about attributive clauses.(Grammar will be taught in a stress free environment and students will get the hang of attributive clauses through participation in interesting and challenging activities.) Step 5. Making dialogues

Ask students to make dialogues about their likes and dislikes using attributive clauses. Step 6. Discussion

Show some Chinese proverbs for students to translate in English.

Create a real situation for students to explain some Chinese terms using attributive clauses and build up their cultural confidence

Step 7. Consolidation and application
