【Analysis of teaching material】
In this part, students will learn how to describe a person’s change from the past to the present with simple past and simple present.
【Analysis of students】
At this period students have learnt English for several years and they have mastered some basic English knowledge. However, their levels are quite different and their learning habits are just so-so. They need teacher’s help. 【Teaching aims】
一. Knowledge aims:
1. Students will read and understand the new words: studied, hard. 2. Students will review the past tense of some verbs: eat-ate; drink-drank; write-wrote; sing-sang. 3. Students will master the sentence structures: Mr. Li was a teacher. He taught Chinese. Now Mr. Li doesn’t work. He’s learning English. 二. Skill aims:
1. Students will understand the passage and improve their reading skill—searching for information. 2. Students will use the new knowledge to talk about the changes of a person from past to present. 三. Emotional attitude and aim Students will realize the importance of learning . 【Teaching key points】
Students will master the pronunciations, meanings and the use of the new words studied, hard. 【Teaching difficult points】
Students will put the knowledge to talk about the change of a person from past to present. 【Teaching methods】
Based on the analysis above, task-based teaching method and situational teaching method will be adopted. 【Teaching procedures】
Step 1 Warm-up 1. Greeting.
2. Chant and lead-in. Play the chant of part 1. Then ask and answer. Lead to the new lesson. Design purpose: Get students ready for the class and attract their attention to class. Step2 Presentation 1.
Watch the video and answer a question. 2. Read the first part and fill the blanks. 3. Read the second part and fill in the blanks. 4. Learn the sentences structure. ⑴. Present the change of Mr. Li. Design purpose: To check if students have mastered the new knowledge and cultivate their cooperative awareness. Step 5 Summary 1.
Present word cards and conclude new words. 2 . Ask students to think over the new sentence structures. Design purpose: make students have a deeper impression of the new lesson. Step 6 Homework 1.
Read the passage to parents your parents. 2.
Interview two persons you are familiar with. Write down the jobs they did.
