I. Teaching aims and learning objectives By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

1. learn the use of “can” and “can’t”;

2. talk about what you can do to help others; 3. cultivate the awareness to care for others.

II. Analysis of the teaching material and students 1.

Analysis of the teaching material

This text is the first part of the unit which is related to daily life. The new words and sentences

are easy to understand. The topic can arouse students’ interests so that they can talk more about helping others as well as cultivate their consciousness about care for the people in need. 2.

Analysis of the students

All the students are from Grade 7 and they are in the medium level. They have learned simple present tense and some related words in daily life. So they are familiar with the topic “helping others”.

III. Difficulties and important points

To generate ideas about how to help others. To write an application form to apply for the volunteers.

Teaching procedures Step 1 lead-in

T: different people have different abilities. For example, I can swim. Swimming is my ability. You can speak English. Speaking English is your ability. 在这部分导入ability这个单词的概念，写在黑板上。围绕本单元主题，开始展开讲解。

Step 2 Presentation

New words T:There are some superheroes with special abilities. Look at this picture. Who is he? S: it’s a spiderman. T: what’s his ability? Please watch the video.

These superheroes have different abilities . They use their abilities to help others, fight against the enemies. So , what can we do to help others? 由话题导入新单词

这部分让学生使用ipad进行配对，老师在终端对学生提交的答案进行点评，使用希沃软件对正确率和错误率展示，结果比较直观。

Step 4 Production 1.Free talk T：Everyday, we use qq or wechat to communicate with others. Sometimes, we share sth. in friends circle or qq zone. When we see sth. positive , we give them a like. In our friends’ circle, we find out our society is full of positive energy. For example, in my friends’

circle, I saw a video. Let’s have a look.

What does the girl do?

Should we give her a like? 通过展示朋友圈截图，传递社会各种现象，其中有视频，有图片，既有社会热点新闻，又有本校真实案例。激发学生的好奇心，通过朋友圈点赞功能，让学生不但学会各种帮助他人的表达方法，又让学生真实感悟传递正能量的途径。

T: Our society(社会)needs positive energy(正能量). Can you share something that gives you positive energy around you? What can we do to make our society better? 让学生各抒己见，讨论自己能做点什么为社会传播正能量。

这部分利用希沃软件，将学生们帮助他人的图片照片投影到屏幕上展示，同时用英语表达相关语句，培养学生乐于助人的良好品质

总结：

All of them are the most lovely people. 2. Game time Ask each group pick up two volunteers. One makes actions and another one guess. Try to say the sentences. 通过让学生模仿帮助他人的一些动作，增加趣味性，全体同学也能够热情高涨，投入到竞猜的环节，这样可以让他们掌握刚才活动环节的短语。

分小组合作，学生培养团队意识，分工明确，互帮互助。

利用多媒体软件，学生操作ipad进行抢答，增加趣味性。

Step 5 Practice 1.

Part A2 listen and answer Show two pictures about children in poor areas. Ask students: T: What can we do for the children in poor areas. Some students are talking about what they can do. Please listen to the conversation and answer the questions: What can they do for the children in poor areas? Then ask some students to give their answers. Show the related pictures with some useful phrases. send clothes and shoes to them raise money for them collect books for children

Discussion

T: Please work in pairs and talk about

what we can do for the disabled/our class/ our parents/children in poor areas.

Then make a dialogue for us. Conclusion: We should use our ability to help others. Besides, by helping others, we help ourselves. 通过让学生分别讨论，如何帮助父母，

班级，贫困地区儿童，残疾人等话题。这个活动一方面能使学生练习不同的表达方法，另一方面让学生感知社会需要帮助的人有很多，我们可以从小事做起，从身边的人做起，比如自己的父母，自己的班级等，达到情感目标。

Step 6 Project

Writing an application letter T:We can do so many things to help others, do you want to join the helping hands club? Now let’s write an application letter to apply for the volunteers.

Xxx 经过上一个环节讨论，学生积极性比较高。所以他们自然也很踊跃想要申请加入援手俱乐部担任志愿者，借此让学生写一封申请信锻炼书写能力。学生完成后，请个别同学展示自己的书信并且大声朗读。

教学反思

self-reflection 本课是第七单元的第一部分，难度不大，主要训练学生通过本节课，利用所学的相关词汇短语表达，对个人能力进行讨论，对帮助他人的话题进行展示。这些话题和学生日常生活比较相关，学生可参与度较高，能够激发他们的学习兴趣。

课堂设置方面，我利用多种环节调动气氛，努力让学生有好奇心，有欲望参与讨论和表演。比如一开场，学生对于ability 这个概念是陌生的，所以我举了

几个例子进行解释，同时，我通过学生熟知的几个卡通人物形象，比如超人，美猴王等视频图片，让他们自己主动说出这些人物的能力。卡通漫画部分让学生自发表演，加入表情动作，课堂气氛一度高涨热烈。在对a1部分重点短语熟悉后，加入谁来比划谁来猜的活动，一方面让学生互动，一方面又全班参与进来猜词练习表达。之后，我课程上结

合当今社会热点，朋友圈点赞，以及我校相关志愿者活动内容，让学生讨论朋友圈里的好人好事，进行点赞活动，又配上相关新闻热点视频。学生们的注意力再次得到集中。在听力问答训练后，我让学生从小事做起，从身边人做起，讨论能为身边的父母同学老师做些什么。最后，经过这堂课的学生，大家都表明自己也想做一名志愿者，于是请同学们写一封申请信。

课堂上，我利用多媒体希沃软件，分别采用了学生集体做单选题，学生抢答，学生的照片同步展示，学生课堂作业现场展示等方法。充分利用多媒体工具与学生互动。

综合来看，本节课结合社会热点，加入各种学生，能够让学生有兴趣并且充分加入到课堂讨论和课堂表现上来。结合多媒体教学，顺利完成了教学目标，并且也让学生在学习中个人道德品质方面得到了升华。
