Step I. Greetings

StepⅣ. Summary -ed分词短语做状语可表示时间，地点，条件，原因，让步，伴随等意义。这种-ed分词短语相当于一个时间，地点，条件，原因，让步等状语从句，若-ed分词作状语，分词的主语通常是整个句子的主语，句子的主语与分词所表示的动作构成动宾关系，即是该分词动作的承受者。过去分词(短语)作状语时, 也可在其前面加上连词 when, if, once, though, unless等, 以便明确作何种状语。

StepⅤ. Observation two ①表时间，相当于一个时间状语从句，有时过去分词前可加连词when或while来强调时间概念。

Seen from the top of the hill , the city looked like a big garden.

②表原因，相当于一个原因状语从句。

Moved by the story ,the young people made up their minds to take up the struggle.

③表条件，相当于一个条件状语从句，有时过去分词前可用if等词。

⑤表方式或伴随情况

过去分词与句子主语构成动宾关系, 而现在分词与句子主语构成主谓关系。

Step Ⅶ. Observation four

过去分词作状语表示被动或完成，但有些过去分词（短语）因来源于系表结构，作状语时不表动作而表状态。

常见的有: lost (迷路); seated (坐); absorbed in (全神贯注于); dressed in (穿着);

tired of (厌烦)等。
