同位语（the Appositive），顾名思义，就是名词或名词短语，在句中作某些名词的同位语,对前面的名词作进一步的说明。同位语从句（Revise the Appositive Clause）就是指用一个句子在句中作某些名词的同位语,对前面的名词作进一步的说明。它一般用连词

that（没有词义，不作成分，不能省略）或连接副词how,when, where等引导

,其前面的名词一般为: news , fact , idea , suggestion , promise, information, message, problem等，

如:

Everyone knows the fact the earth goes round the sun . 众所周知地球围绕太阳转.

I have no idea when he will be back . 我不知道他什么时间回来. 同位语从句与定语从句的区别：

（1）作用不同。前者是对名词加以补充说明，后者是名词进行修饰和限制；

（2）结构不同。前者由连词或连接副词引导，后者由关系代词或关系副词引导；

（3）内涵不同。前者所说明的名词与从句没有逻辑关系，后者所修饰限定的名词是从句逻辑上的主语、宾语、表语、定语、状语等；

（4）引导同位语从句的连词that不可以省略，而引导定语从句的关系代词that作从句宾语时可以省略。如：We are interested in the news that some foreigners would visit our school. We are interested in the news( that )he told us （5）概念不同。前者如果由连接副词when,where分别引导，那其前面的名词与连接副词在概念上不一致，而后者如果由关系副词when,where分别引导，那其前面分别表示时间、地点的名词与关系副词在概念上要一致。

例如：

They have no idea at all where he has gone.（同位语从句）
