教材内容分析：

本课教学内容为人教版选修8 第三单元阅读课The problem of the Snakes,讲述的是一女孩儿如何通过多次尝试，最后成功地把在他母亲家院子里安家的一窝4蛇捉住并放归大自然的，他的捕蛇技术也申请了发明专利；文章也提到了申请专利的标准。文章篇幅较长，内容与学生生活实际不是特别密切。一节课无法面面俱到，因此根据本节课的核心任务或者output的需要，着重处理前半段，即捕蛇环节，申请专利环节有涉及，但是不强调，以做到重点突出。

此文章为故事性的科技文，故事性较强，时间线索贯穿始终，因此抓住这一主线，将主要信息进行提炼和理解，让学生对前因后果有个纵向的掌握。

2.

本文逻辑性强所以在处理文章内容时，将充分利用各种 thinking map即思维导图归纳，整理和愉出主要信息，以帮助学生建立和运用一些初级的逻辑思维。

3.

本课文的语言本身不是很难，但是作为科技文，其语言表达准确，逻辑严谨，因比将通过对部分重点词句的解读，让学生感矢知这种文体特征。

4.教学过程设计

Step 1. Warming Up Purpose: To arouse students’ interest in learning about the difference between a discovery and an invention.

Get Ss t to guess what the invention is or who the inventor is in groups. Question: 

it's made of plastics and metal 

The invention can contact some one while you are on the move Suggested Answer: Mobile phone Question: 

The inventor invented the bulb Suggested Answer: Edison Step 2. pre-reading Purpose: To get Ss to be aware of the connection between inventing and the scientific process 1. Let Ss work in pairs and decide what the first and most important stage is to make an invention 2. Ask Ss to finish the exercise of pre-reading on P19 and then check the answer in pairs

Step 3. leading-in Purpose: Arouse Ss interest in the text and encourage Ss to imagine the content of the text. Ask Ss to predict in pairs the content of the text based on the title and pictures. Step 4. Fast reading Purpose: To get Ss to have a brief understanding of the text

1. Ask Ss to read the text quickly and try to get the main idea of the whole text. Suggested Answer: The text narrates the problem of the snakes and presents the procedures of catching them and applying for a patent 2. Get Ss to divide the passage and work out the main idea for each part Part I (Para 1): The discovery of the problem of the snakes

Part II (Para 2-3): The research on the approaches to solve the problem.

Part III (Para 4): The attempts to catch the snakes Part IV(Para 7-8): The requirement of getting a patent

Step 5. Careful reading (1). Ask Ss to read the text carefully and answer the following questions.

Part 1: Why was the writer happy to help her mother?

Part 2: 1. How many ways did she thought of? What are they? 2. Why do you think the writer chose this way of solving the problem? Would you do the same? Part 3: 1. How many times did she try? Why do you think she failed the first time? 2. Why did cooling make the snakes less active? (2). Group discussion: If you are a patent officer, which one will be given a patent? (on page22) Step 6: post-reading

Ask Ss to work in pairs either to invent their own inventions according to Sample 1 or to describe the following pictures of cool inventions . Sample 1: I feel my schoolbag always too heavy, so I hope to invent a new schoolbag which will carry me to school every day instead of being carried by me.
