Starter Unit 2 What’s this in English?

一、教材分析

本单元的核心教学内容是“认物”。用英语确认周围的常见事物比较符合英语初学者的实际情况。通过本单元教学，使学生运用所学句型，去熟悉周围事物的名称；教学生学会在实际生活中如何确认事物。通过辨认物体，学生学到一些生词，并巩固所学句型。

二、教学设计思路

Starter Unit 2是Go for it! 三个预备单元中的第二个单元。预备篇是为了使没有英语学习基础的学生更好地使用本套教材而编写的。我们可以用手势，表情，动作等示意，帮助学生听懂课堂教学内容，但在实际操作中应尽量避免“明知故问”的倾向，应该采用应用性原则；如：遮盖物品、显露局部、图形辨认等方法。

三、教学重点

1. 学习Ii --- Rr十个字母及其书写。

2. 学习身边的物品名称：map, ruler, cup, pen, orange, jacket, key, quilt 3. 学习辨认物品的用语：

4. 学习拼写单词的相关句型:

-- Spell it, please. / How do you spell it?/ Can you spell it? -- K-E-Y, key.

5. 字母i, o在开音节和闭音节中的读音规则。

2e) Learning aims （教学目标）

1. 学会正确朗读和书写Ii --- Rr十个字母. 2. 学习身边的物品名称：map, ruler, cup, pen, orange, jacket, key, quilt 3. 了解缩略字母P, NBA, kg的含义。

4. 学习辨认物品的用语：

Teaching steps Step 1.Warming-up （课堂热身）( name card and letter card)

(1) Review greetings.

Get the students to introduce themselves in English and greet each other using Good morning/afternoon/evening! /How are you with their partners?

(2) 1. Teacher shows a letter quickly and asks : "What's this?" Get the students

to answer the questions like this: " I think it's A / B." Then show the whole of the letter to let the students check whether they're right or wrong. Then complete 1a on page 5. 【教学设计说明】让学生从闪烁的画面中通过快速的思维，说出其中是什么字母。

"What's this？It's ..."是本单元的重点句型。通过这个游戏，让学生在听说中首先建立一定的感性认识，体现听说领先的原则。

Step 2.

Learn the names of things.(用实物和幻灯片学习物品名字)

Have a key，a ruler，a pen，an orange．Hold the key up and say “What’s this in English? It’s a key．”

Repeat and then get students to repeat．Do the same with a pen and an orange．Shows the photos of the eight things by playing PPT and helps students to learn to pronounce the names using the sentence pattern. 【教学设计说明】用具体的形象引导学生识记单词，对于初一新生来说是有效而必要的。注意在讲解物品名称时学习a / an的初步用法，每个单词前都配有冠词，引导同学们发现规律。

Step 3：Practice

(1) Listen and get the students to repeat the conversations in the picture of 1a．

(2) 教师与学生配合示范编对话。在示范中讲解代词this，that和it的用法

（3）学生与同伴仿照编队话，并且小组起立进行对话表演。

【教学设计说明】先听后说，帮助学生较容易地掌握句型，通过练习对话巩固本节课所要掌握的单词和句型，进一步养成小组合作的学习习惯。

Step 4: Learning the letters. 1.

Work on 2a and 2b

（1）Play the recording. Students listen and repeat.

每播放一个发音后，学生跟读，并教学生读出其升降调，学生读准确后继续播放。在跟读时尤其让学生注意难点中提到的字母J和G的区分，L和Q的正确发音

（2）Teacher shows some letter cards. 老师利用字母卡，打乱顺序，让学生使用升降调朗读。

2. Work on 2b （完成2b）

Play the recording for the first time. Students listen; Play the recording for the second time. Students listen and number the letters; Play the recording for the third time. Students listen and check their answers; Students read them aloud. 【教学设计说明】

先听后做，训练学生集中精力听清楚字母的发音，养成良好的听力习惯,

准确掌握字母读音。

3. Work on 2c

& 2d

教师可以通过多媒体展示或以自己的方式来教学字母的书写Ii—Rr。注意K和R字母的小写。需要帮助同学们区分拼音字母和英文字母的书写区别。

4. Games Play the letter game with the students．

将全班分成两组，一组学生持大写字母，另一个学生持小写字母，教师快速念字母，要求持有该字母的学生迅速站起来，最先站起来的两分，后站起来的得一分，没站起来的得零分，得分多的组获胜。

Write the missing big letter or small letter for each pair.

Step 5. 学习字母缩写

（1）Show some letters and asks students to read first, and then guess what they stand for. If t hey have some difficulties，we can give them some hints.

e.g. —T: Can you read the letters?—S: NBA —T: What does it mean in Chinese? （2）Students talk about some more abbreviations they know. 【教学设计说明】同学们生活中会遇到许多字母组合，扩充这方面的知识，不仅可以巩固字母的学习，也可以有效地引起学生的兴趣，激发他们去观察生活，在生活中得到更有效的学习。

Step 1.Warming-up Game: Magical box：

Get one of the student choose one picture or real object in the box, he only can use his body language, let the others guess what it is. Using:—What’s this in English?—Is it a/an…?—Yes / No.

（强调a / an的用法）

学生们在充满趣味性的情境中一遍遍加深对所学句型的记忆。游戏丰富了学生的想象力，有效激活学生的探究欲望，符合学生的心理特点。

Play the recording for the first time. Students listen and number the pictures; Play the recording for the second time，let them Complete the words under the pictures. Finally ask students to read them aloud. 【教学设计说明】第一步按照图片提示来做，难度不大，训练学生的注意力，留下一种总体印象；第二遍难度加大，训练学生的反应度，两遍有层次的听力练习为后面单元的听力练习养成良好的听力习惯打下基础。最后要求同学们读单词并强调a / an的用法. 在训练学生听的能力的同时，引出下面活动中的句型，自然的过渡到下个环节。

Step 3. pairwork

(1) Listen and get the students to repeat the conversations。

(2) 教师与学生配合示范编对话。在示范中引导讲解拼写单词句型。

（3）学生与同伴仿照编队话，并且小组起立进行对话表演。

【教学设计说明】这个活动学生先听后说，先让学生感知，产生疑问然后讲解再配合练习，符合学习规律，帮助同学们在思考中学习。

Show the picture and act the conversation to the class. 【教学设计说明】锻炼学生掌握小组合作的规则，帮助他们养成合作学习的习惯。先通过实例为学生做好示范在小组的和谐配合下，充分发挥想象，自己画图，让观察生活，热爱生活，。学生运用所学知识谈论实际问题，为学生创设了自然运用知识的机会。

Step5. Review the letters

1. Letters challenge. Teacher shows the letters very quickly get the students to call out the

letters they see.

2. 1. Teacher thinks of a word that the Ss know. Draw a dash on the Bb for each letter. Get a student to suggest a letter. Then ask student and another letter until they get all the letters of the words.

3. Complete 4a and 4b.

【教学设计说明】学字母比较枯燥，但相信大多数学生对字母有所了解，有一定的基础。从猜字母到猜单词的呈现，学生注意力相对集中和兴趣被有效激活，在短时间内帮助他们唤起相应记忆并加深印象。

Step 6.通过小组合作发现元音字母i, o在开音节和闭音节中的发音规律。

用相对自由、开放的方式学习音标，给学生一点创造的空间,同时鼓励学生主动学习知识，通过合作学习获取帮助。
