Unit 2 King Lear Teaching Goals：

1. Teaching aims: (1) In order to improve students’ literature quality and expand their horizon. Ss should learn the plots by themselves during the class and then answer the questions and do some activities.

(2) Use various teaching tools to enrich the students’ school lives. 2. Emotional teaching: (1) To make the students familiar with the great works by Shakespeare and the story of the great literature. (2) During the study, students can learn more knowledge about King Lear. (3) Comparing the little daughter with the other two sisters, students can know who is really truthful and loyal. At the same time, students can know how to love their fathers.

Teaching Important and Difficult Points: 1.How to enable the students have better understanding of the theme of the play. 2. How to instruct students to find ways to improve their abilities, especially in reading, teaching part. Teaching Procedures: 1.

Begin with a Sonnet 18 by Shakespeare with the music. The teacher will read it and translate it into Chinese.

Sonnet 18 Shall I compare thee to a summer's day? Thou art more lovely and more temperate. Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May, and summer's lease hath all too short a date. Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines. And often is his gold complexion dimmed, and every fair from fair sometime declines.
