M4 U3 Project Teaching Objectives: 1.

Enable students to get to know the science fiction and familiar with it.

Make sure that students are able to locate the useful information and finish the tasks by reading two summaries.

3. Encourage students to explore the reading materials and write your own science fiction. Teaching Key Points: 1.

Get students to retell the story with the aid of key words. 2.

Apply information found from the stories to explore the deep meaning of the stories. Teaching Difficult Point: Master the way to write a science fiction. Teaching Procedure: Lead-in: revise what we have learnt in reading, VR and introduce the topic, AI. Questions: what does VR stand for? In the picture, the girl wears a headset and gloves. What’s the function of them? Introduce the topic, AI, Artificial Intelligence, by showing them Autopilot of Tesla.

Step1: introduce science fictions to students. Explain the definition of the science fiction to students and what they speak of. Step2: do predictions on the titles of the books. Encourage students

to write down the key words or phrases even the sentences to guess what the books might tell us or might appear in the book. Step3: retell the story and locate detailed information in the Journey to the Centre of the Earth. A.

Step5: take two science fictions as an example and encourage students to explore them.

Questions: Do you believe “Journey to the Center of the Earth”

meets people's curiosity about what earth look like? Do you think that, to some extent, people's science discovery of the earth structure owes to the imagination in the beginning? Many people are interested in time travel. Can you think of the reason? What lessons can we learn if we want to avoid the future tragedies mentioned in “The Time Machine”? They need to finish the task as a team. Step6: Homework Require them to write a science fiction as a group. Teaching reflection: 1.

It took too much time to lead in the science fiction.

Sometimes I cannot reflect on students’ answer and make their performance ineffective. 3.

Also, it appears rusty to deal with the text in that way and I still need to explore them.
