Entering a new sport into the Olympics

Arouse students’ interest by having an competition about the Olympic knowledge. 2

Help them learn the names of sporting events in the Olympic Games, some requirements for entering a sport into the Olympics and some changes in the Olympic events. 3

Let them be aware of the course of conducting a project and what each of them is supposed to do in every stage of the course. 4

Hold a competition about Olympics to arouse Ss’ interest.

Introduce the 28 Olympic events to Ss to get ready for the speech.

Step 2 Reading Fast reading: 1.

Listen to the tape and find the answers to the reading comprehension questions. Report your result to the class. 1) What requirements must be met before a sport can be considered by the IOC? 2) What sports will be probably included in 2016? Why? 3) What sport is applying to get into the Olympics?
