Module 4 The natural world Unit3 In the park Period (1) Teaching aims: 1.

Identify the key words: blue,red, yellow, green. 2.

Understand the wh - questions. e.g., What colour is it? 3.

Use adjectives to identify colours. e.g. It is red.

Teaching materials: Media, PPT, coloured cards, coloured pens, worksheets

Step 1: Pre-task preparations

1.

Sing the song “ The wheels on the bus.”

T: What’s this? Ss: It’s a bus. T: It’s a blue bus. The bus is blue. Show a blue card.

2.

Show the picture of a red light. T: It’s a red light. Red light, red light, stop, stop, stop. T: What colour is the light?

Ss: It’s red.

Show a red card. 3.

Show the colour yellow as 2. 4.

Show the colour green as 2.

Step 2 While-task procedures 1.

Have the students repeat the names of the colours and raise the corresponding coloured pens.

T: Show me red.

Ss: It’s red. 2.

Ask the students to act out the dialogue on Student’s Book page 46 in pairs. S1: What’s this?

S2: It’s a pear.

S1: What colour is it?

S2: It’s yellow. 3.

Show the students the picture of a park and ask them some questions. T: Look! What ‘s this? S: It’s a tree. T: What colour is it? S: It is green. ... 4.

Have the students in fours choose one of four animals each (cow, pig, chick, duck) and make a riddle about it. E.g. Si: It’s big. It’s fat. It’s pink. It’ goes “oink...” What is it? Ss: It’s a pig. 5.

Divide the class into groups and conduct a competition. The students tell the missing colour in turns. Each winner can get a star. The group gets the most stars wins. 6.

Introduce more colours: pink, white, orange, purple, brown.

Step3: Post-task activities 1.

Ask the students to take a piece of worksheet and colour the apple red, the banana yellow, the watermelon green and the peach pink.

2. Ask the students to match the fruit and their corresponding words. 3. Play the song “

I see something blue.”

Ask the students to find something of certain colours in the classroom.
