Part Ⅰ
To analyze the teaching material.
It’s English This Way, Book 10, Unit 2, lesson5. This book has 3 units. In this unit, we mainly talk about seasons. There are 3 lessons in Unit 2. They are “Season and Clothes”, “Seasons and Time” and “Seasons and Culture”. The main topic of this lesson is the relationship between seasons and time.
Part Ⅱ
To analyze the pupils.
Ps are in Grade5. They have learnt English for five years. They have learnt some words about seasons before.
They have strong interesting and the sense of competition. They are willing to take part in teaching activities .
Teaching aims of this class as following:
1.Knowledge aims: First, Ps can listen,speak, read and write the words about seasons. Second, Ps can understand and use the sentence patterns:
---When is spring?
---It’s from…
---What colour is it?
---It’s….
2.Ability aims: First, to develop Ps’ abilities of listening speaking, reading and writing. Second, to train Ps’
ability of describe the feature of seasons.
3.Emotion aims: First, to foster Ps’ consciousness of good co-operation and competition. Second, guide the Ps to enjoy and love nature.

Step1. Warming up
1. Dividing children into 4 groups. They are spring, summer, autumn and winter.
2. Free talking
Hello, boys and girls!
I’m Lily! What’s your name? Nice to meet you!
What day is it today?
What’s the date today?
What’s the weather like today? What season is it now? What season do you like best?
Purpose:
Team competition can increase interest in learning English.
Warming up activities can increase the feelings between teachers and students.
Step2. Review
1、T: How many seasons are there in a year?
Ps: There are four.
T: What are they?
Ps:…
Let’s chant “Four seasons”.
2、Review the twelve months.
Step3.Lead--in
T: What season is it now?
When is …?
(T asks some Ss to answer the question. Lead out “It’s from __to__” to answer. At this time write down the sentences.)
Step4 .Present new content
1.T show out PPT, teach the sentence: “When is …? It’s from __to__.”
2.T shows out the two sentences, then teach the word “last”.
3.Teach the seasons and time.
4.Practice the dialogue in teams by the spinners.
5.T ask Ps “What colour is spring?
Why?”
to lead out the new word “plants grow”.Show out a plant or some plants to teach plants grow.
6. Use the same way to teach other new words:flowers bloom
leaves fall
snow.
