Course book: Oxford English Book 1A Theme: Me, my family and friends Topic: My family Period: 1st period Sub-topic: My family Sub-task: To introduce the family members
Background study and material analysis:
The students have learned the sentence patterns “This is …” and “He/ She can…”. In this unit, they will learn the English expressions of family members “father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, sister and me” and introduce them briefly by using the sentence patterns “He/ She is …”and “He/ She can…” and finally report to the class in a short passage.
For the vocabulary, “th” sound is a difficult point for most of the students, so the teacher needs to pay attention to the students’ pronunciation of these words---- father, mother, grandfather and grandmother. And also, they need to distinguish the gender and use the pattern “He is…”/ “She is …”correctly. What’s more, they will review the old pattern “He/ She can …” by introducing one’s own family.
Objectives:
1.
To learn the new words and sentence patterns through reading and chants. 2.
To introduce one’s family members with the new words and patterns.
Difficulty:
To pronounce ‘th’ sound and to introduce one’s family members in a short passage. Aids:

1. T:Show the picture of Sakura's family and play the recorder of the introduction.
Ss:Listen to the introduction .
Sa: Tell what he or she hears.
1. T:Show the photos of Sakura’s family members one by one.
Ss: Learn the new words.
2. T: Show the chants "Father, father, he’s my father" and Mother, mother, she’s my mother.
Ss:
Practice the chants and make new chants about grandfather, grandmother and sister. 3. T: Give an example of ‘He’ or ‘She’.
Ss: Tell ‘He’
or ‘She’
