Step1. Lead-in Ask students to review Act One: Fateful meetings then make the students interest in the play: Making the bet. Step2. Reading 1.

Pre-reading: Preview the useful phrases to help students understand the play.

2. Fast reading:

Give the students 3 minutes to read the play quickly and then fill in the chart.(It is about time , place, people, and plot) 3. Careful

reading: Give the students 5 minutes to read the play carefully

and find the answers of these five questions. Task1. Answer the following questions: (1). Do you think Eliza is very ambitious? (2). Why did Pickering fancy himself? (3). What habits did Eliza have? (4). What do you think Higgins would have to do to change Eliza into a lady? (5). How do you think Colonel Pickering? Discussion: After the reading, give the students 3 minutes to discuss the answers and the reasons with their group members. Task2. Choose the best answers. Step3. Summary Read the play again and fill in the blanks. (Make the students learn to retell the story.) Step 4. Homework

Ask students to watch the movie My Fair Lady carefully (those who have watched this movie review it again). 2.

Make the students act out the play next class.
