教学内容分析：本单元的中心话题是“发明家与发明”。具体涉及“发明产生的过程”和“申请发明专利的条件”。语言技能和语言知识都是围绕“发明”这一中心话题设计的。

本篇课文是一篇记叙文。故事讲述的是一个女孩如何通过多次尝试，最后成功地把在她母亲家院子里安家的一窝蛇捉住并放归大自然的，她的捕蛇技术申请了发明专利。文章也提到了申请专利的标准。

背景知识：理解文章内容需要一定的背景知识，而学生也必须有这些知识才能深刻理解文章：蛇属于冷血动物，体内的温度随环境温度的变化而变化（作者选择第三个方法的根据）。当外界气温下降后，蛇采取冬眠的方式来降低消耗，适应环境，但冬眠需要一个过程（作者第一次尝试时，2小时后就去捉蛇会失败的原因）。蛇在气温15°时便很少进食，8°~6°停止活动，3~2°陷入麻痹状态（作者调整实验的根据）。

学情分析：本班学生喜欢上英语课，但是基础较为薄弱。对于一篇长文章，他们缺乏耐心和信心去阅读。因此，如何让学生快速地进入情境，并把课堂设计得符合他们的认知和水平，尤为关键。

Teaching aims: (1) Enable the students to read fast and divide the story into four parts by focusing on the key words& sentences. (2) Enable the students to focus on the invention stages and some details of making attempts. (3) Enable the students to retell the story by patent application form and give their opinions. 2.

Teaching important and difficult points: 1. Enable the students to enter the situation quickly and be willing to read the story independently. 2. Use the invention stages to analyze the story. 3. Make sure that students hold a positive attitude towards animals: do no harm them. 3. Teaching methods:
