Step 1: Lead in 

Enjoy the video and pay attention to the what the interviewee answers and take down the key information 

Suppose you are looking for a job in James’ company, please write a letter to James Dyson asking for a job at his company 1 Who is James Dyson?

2 What is his company about?

Step 2: Pre-writing 

Now write a letter to James Dyson asking him for a job at his company.

Here is a model on Page 27. 

Role play Three students in a group, suppose one is the employer, please ask the other student one question according to the passage, for example what, how, when, where…and the last student take the question down and present it to other students



Read and analyze the structure of the whole letter and draw a mind map



Show some useful sentence structures of each part to the students. 

Part 1: Reason for writing

Group work 

1 . Six students in a group choose the job they like , then discuss and describe their personal experience and related working experience according to the mind-map

Analyze the letter of job application. 

Ask the Ss to write down the letters and check them by themselves. 

Share some good letters of job application with all. Step 4: Summary 
