Main and difficult points Make the students involved in the class activities to improve their comprehensive abilities and raise their awareness of cooperation. III. Teaching procedures Step 1 Lead in(Review Reading) Who are famous athletes mentioned in Reading? What sports did they take part in? What makes a sport a sport, and not just a game or an activity? 【设计说明】Ask the students to say sth about sport ,which can practice their oral English. In addition, this part is used to attract the students’ attention and interest to the topic Step 2 Skimming 1.

What are undecided sports? 【设计说明】Ask the students to go through the text quickly to get answers to 4 questions. The aim is to train their reading ability to get information quickly with the guidance of reading strategies. To some degree, their confidence in solving problems can be increased. Step 3 Discussion What makes a sport a sport ? Whether a sport can enter the Olympics depending on _____________and ______________ 【设计说明】The topic is designed to train the students’oral English. So the topic should be close to their lives in order to make them have the chance and ability to express themselves. Meanwhile, their cooperative group learning can be strengthened. 【设计说明】in order to understand the passage better and improve their ability to solve problems, ask the students to read each part carefully, which can improve their inductive learning abilities and express their thoughts freely. Step 5 Discussion Conflicts with others are common in everyday life. What should we do to avoid such conflicts?

【设计说明】The topic should be close to their lives in order to make them have the chance and ability to express themselves, which is designed to train the students’oral English. Step 6 Interview Make a speech about sport 【设计说明】This part is ending, but it is the highlight. Their learning achievements can be produced by talking part in cooperative group learning. Making them show their achievements in class is not only to output what they have learnt, but also practice their spoken English and comprehensive abilities, in which case their potential can be released. Step9 Homework Better your speech 【设计说明】Every student have the desire to show themselves. So as teachers, it’s our duty to protect their interest and give them chance to show their group achievements. 教学反思

本节课主要有两部分构成。第一部分通过对语篇的理解积累语感和言语交际经验。第二部分是学以致用，通过小组活动，学生进行知识的内化及输出。

针对本课的教学目标，采取诸多教学步骤，并设计了可操作性强的学习任务，涉及了话题讨论、精读理解范文、课堂活动、观点交流、小组展示等形式。通过合理的设计，让学生在灵活多样的活动中学习英语，发展学习策略。整个教学过程以学生为主体，以任务为驱动，激发了兴趣, 提高了能力，升华了思想。

本节课在问题的设计上，力图提高学生的参与热情。在内容的安排上，采用由知识输入到技能操练到深入的思考这样一个台阶式上升的模式，帮助学生在学习知识的同时，树立起正确的人生价值取向。内容设计难度合理，生动有趣，使学生能够充分地、深入地、积极地参与到课堂教学的实践中。在这堂课的内容安排上时刻注意调动学生参与的热情，激发学生的主动性思维，最大程度地去释放学生的潜能。
