(Warming up & Reading)

This is the first teaching period of Unit 5, and as for this unit, getting new information, understanding the reading material and giving opinions are of vital importance for students. The emphases of this teaching period are mainly focused on the main idea of the passage and the structure of it. Besides, students are also expected to make a summary. 1.Teaching objectives Knowledge aims

1.1 Students will be able to master the basic skill of searching for useful information and giving opinions. 1.2 Students can sum up the main idea of each paragraph.

T: Good morning, class! Really nice meeting you. Before we start our lesson, I have a picture for you. Now, look. Can you tell me whom the music king is? S: .... T: Correct. Wand Feng. The style of his music is rock music. And now, what else do you know about different music types? S: Jazz, pop, country music etc. T: Good! Now let’s do a music appreciating activity. Please turn to page 33 and look at the first task. I’ll play the material and you have to tell me which one is the first, second ... eighth of the pictures. In this part, the content as well as the structure of the passage will be stressed.
