一、学习目标

(1). Get the students to learn and grasp the important useful new words and expressions in this part. (2). Help the students get the details of the passage by reading and guessing in pairs. 2. 能力目标

(1). Improve the students’ ability in reading.

(2). Train the students to grasp the main idea of the text and can analyse the compound sentences. 3．情感目标

Students can feel more confident and prouder of their hometown. 二、教学重难点

Important point : Get the students to grasp the new words and learn to speak using the new words and expressions. Difficult point : Get the student to guess the meaning of the new words in the context and paraphrase some sentences. 三、教学过程

Step 1. Leading-in by checking the homework. 1). Conclude from the reading passage: What’s your first impressions of Xiamen? 2) . Show some pictures of Xiamen to the students to help them learn something more of the city.

Step 2: Fast reading Read the dialogue quickly and at the same time check your homework: exercises 2 and 3 on page 33. 1. True or False

Step4. Free talk : Would you like to live in Xiamen? Why or why not? Ask the students to express their own likes or dislikes about Xiamen. Step 5 Homework 1. Find out something about your hometown on the internet. Write a letter introducing it to your friend. 2. Read the text and pay attention to the language points. 3. Recite the short passage about Xiamen.
