4.agree的用法

How can I refuse? 哈利·波特的魔法世界之所以让人流连，其中一个重要原因，就是几个小魔法师都心甘情愿为朋友付出，这种友情的魔力感染了我们。这源于“情”的魔咒，都不外乎一句“我愿意”。

我们表达“不客气、乐意效劳”之类的基本礼貌用语时，通常会选择说

“You’re welcome.”

或者

“I like that./ I love it.”

等。这里的

“I love it.”

要比

“I like

it.”

的感情色彩更重一些。所以当人们高兴得难以言喻时，不禁都要大喊一声：“I love it.”

“You’re welcome to do sth.”

的句型，可以用来表达“欢迎做某事，不用客气”的意思，例如：Youre welcome to use my computer anytime if you want.意思就是：“不用客气，想用我的电脑的时候就用吧。”

我们再来看看标题

“How can I refuse?”。refuse 作动词讲是“拒绝、谢绝”的意思，还有“退回、否决、推辞、停止”等多种含义。这句话的字面意思是“我怎么能拒绝呢？”，换句话说也就是“乐意效劳！”

我们的语言习惯和地道的英文表达多少还是有些差异的。容易出现一些理解上的偏差。举个例子，“It was an offer he couldnt refuse.”

这句话从字面上看我们很容易误解为“他（因为客观上的某种原因）拒绝不了而被动接受这个提案”，而实际上这句话在英语表达习惯上只有一个意思，那就是“他（主观上）乐意去接受这个提案（而不拒绝）”。那么，主观上不愿意接受却不得不接受的情况该怎么说呢？——就是：It’s an offer he has to take.。

类似的情况还有很多，比如：

How can I lose? 误：我怎么才能输呢？正：我怎么可能输！

How can I turn you down? 误：我怎样才能拒绝你？正：我怎么能拒绝你呢？/ 乐意为你……

How can you do this to me? 误：你是怎么对我做这些事情的？正：你怎么能这样对我？

A: Can you take care of me? A：您可以多关照我一下吗？

B: How can I refuse? B：乐意效劳！

A: Thank you. A：谢谢。

take的发音是

/teik/，take care 的发音情形是：两个爆破辅音

/k/ 相邻，所以前一个爆破辅音失去爆破，只做出发音动作，停顿一下后，后一个爆破辅音/k/发出爆破声。care of me 的发音，应该采取连读的方式，将

care 最后一个辅音字母

r 的读音与

of 第一个元音一起发音。同样，out of business 中的

out of 的发音也要做连读处理。当然，并不是所有的句子都要连读才显得地道。比如当询问对方意见时说的

“How about you?”

就不用连读,否则发音会显得很生硬。还有

thank you 的发音问题，有人习惯把

th 发

/s/ 或者

/z/，但实际上在这里它的发音是

/θ/。

“What do you say?”

看到这句话，你的第一反应会不会是“你说什么？”

注意啦，千万别只按字面意思去理解。这句话的正确含义应该是“你认为呢？/有什么意见吗？”。记得电影《空中一号（Air Force One）》中有这么一个场景：当恐怖分子劫持了飞机并威胁说如果不给飞机加油，就将这些美国人质一个一个杀死。最后就加了这么一句话：What do you say?。
