Students kown how past participles are used as attributives to define nouns.

Students are able to know the differences of transitive verbs and intransitives verbs when they are applied to work as attributives. 3. Students are able to change a sentence with past participles as attributives into a sentence with an attributive clause. 4. Students can use past participles to describe people or things in their daily life. Key points: Know the function and use of past participles in a sentence Difficult Points: 1.The differences between transitive verbs and intransitive verbs when they are used as attributives. 2.How to change a sentence in which a past participle works as an attributive in to a sentence with a attributive clause.

Teaching procedures: Step 1 Lead-in Show students a few beautiful pictures and ask them what they are and how they describe these people or things. Then show them some underlined words and encourage them to guess the function of these words.Thus the curiosity of students are roused and the topic of this class is introduced.

Step 2 Explainations 1.Explain how past participles are used as attributives and their positions relative to nouns or pronouns, for example: The money left The people involved The experience gained

2.Explain that phrases in which past participles are used to define the noun can be changed into a phrase with an attributive clause.For example: Meals cooked by experts= meals which was cooked by experts A house built with ice= a house which was built with ice 3.

Give some sentences with past participles and ask students to find the differences between these verbs.The Explain the differences.When past participles of transitive verbs are used to be attibutives, it means the action has been done .When past participles of intransitive verbs are used to be attibutives, it means the action has done .For example, The problem discussed at the meeting yesterday is very important.(transitive verb) The child abandoned by his parents is my classmate.(transitive verb) They are workers retired from Foxconn. (intransitive verb) This is a faded flower.(intransitive verb) Step 3 Practice 1.

Ask students to use the correct forms of words in brackets. 2.

Ask students to do blank filling and to know the differences when past participles are used to be attibutives and when used in passive voice.

Step 4 Consolidation and homework 1.

Ask one student to conclude what they have learned in this class and summarize the points for students. 2.Students are asked to introduce a person or one thing in daily life by using at least four past participles as attributives.
