Module 8 Unit 1 He lives in the east of the US. 一、教学目标及要求:
(一)、知识与能力目标:
(1)、词汇:north、south、Los Angeles、cousin、maybe、capital、country、
(2)、能正确地运用in the east of ... ; in the west of ...; in the south of ...; in the north of ...;描述位置。
(3)、能听说读写的句子:
He lives in the east of the US. Los Angeles is in the west of the US. Where’s Qingdao? It’s in the east of China. This country is the US. Does he live in (Los Angeles/ New York)? I want to go to the US one day. Maybe you can visit your cousin. (二)、情感价值目标:
简单了解中国、美国各大主要城市在国家领土内地理位置。培养学生热爱祖国、热爱家乡的思想感情。

五、教学过程:
(一)、warm up (热身环节)(5′)
1、say a chant: East an west, home is the best. North and south, let’s have a rest! 2、PPT上出现一张指南针的图片,要求学生根据方位单词的首字母说出表示方位的单词。N→North、W→West、S→South、E→East 设计意图:教师带领学生复习有关方位的单词,为后面的学习作铺垫。
(二)、lead in (导入环节)(3′)
I can read: (ppt 上出现的短语)
在... 的东边in the east of ... ; 在... 的西边in the west of ...; 在... 的南边in the south of ...; 在... 的北边in the north of ...; 设计意图:由单词过渡到短语,让学生能够熟悉描述方位的短语,为后面的描述埋好伏笔。
(三)、presentation (呈现部分)(20′)
1、面对一张美国地图问学生: T: Look at this country’s map. Is it China? Ss: No,it isn’t. T: Can you guess! Which country is it? S1: This country is the US. 教读“country”
一词
2、描述城市位置:
(1)T:In this country, there are many cities. Where’s Los Angeles?(教师指着PPT中洛杉矶的位置,引导学生进行城市方位描述)
S2:Los Angeles is in the west of the US. (板书 in the west of ...) 齐读:Los Angeles is in the west of the US. (2)
T: Where’s New York? S3: New York is in the east of the US. (板书 in the east of ...) 齐读:New York is in the east of the US. (3)
T: Where’s Washinton DC? S4: Washington DC is in the east of the US. 齐读:Washington DC is in the east of the US. (4)
T: Washington DC is a capital of the US. 教读
“capital”一词,并帮助学生理解含义。
3、学习课文,学生翻书并展开视听,初步感知文本含义。
4、Listen and repeat. 5、Read the dialogue together. 6、Read the dialogue by yourselves.
7、Fill in the blanks. Daming: Look! This country is ______. People in the US ______ English. My ______ Simon ______ there. He lives _____________ the US. Sam: Does he live in ___________? Daming: No, he ______. Los Angeles is in the ____ of the US. Sam: Does he live in __________? New York is in the ____ of the US. 老师最后提问:Where’s Simon live? He lives in New York. (四)、consolidation (巩固操练)(10′)
1、呈现中国城市地图,生生之间进行问答练习。
S1:Where’s _____ ? S2: _____ is in the east/west/north/south of China. 板书:in the north of ... / in the south of ... 2、呈现另外一些中国城市的位置,让学生前来操作形成问答模式。
S1:Where’s _____ ? S2: _____ is in the east/west/north/south of China. 3、呈现城市地图,让学生在讨论中正确描述方位。
S1:Where’s the library?
S2: Library is in the south of the city. (五)、Homework (2′)
1. 熟背课文
2. 抄写短语:in the west of ... ; in the south of ... ; in the east of ... ; in the north of ... ; 3. 自己创编四组包含四个方位的城市名称进行位置的描述。
