Seasons and time (Teaching design) Period 1 Teaching aims: 1. Knowledge aim New words and phrases: plants grow, flowers bloom, wind blows, leaves fall, harvest, snow. Target language: A: What season is it?
B: It’s summer. A: When is summer? B: It’s from June to August. A: What color is spring? B: It’s green because plants grow. 2. Ability aim Pupils
can master the new words and phrases, and can talk about the features of seasons by using the target language.

can improve the ability of communication and love nature. Teaching important and difficult points: 1.

2. Teaching difficult point Pupils can spell and pronounce the new words well, and can use the structures correctly. Teaching aids:
PPT, some pictures of four seasons Teaching procedures: Step 1 Warming up
1.
Greet each other as usual. 2.
Warm up by singing a song, Months of the Year.
3.
Lead-in by asking two questions: a.
How many seasons are there in a year? What are they? b.
How many months are there in a year? What are they? 4. Review the words about months, and explain the abbreviations. Step 2 Presentation 1. Show a picture of the spring, and lead out the sentence pattern, “
—What season is it? —
It’s spring.”
“—When is spring?
—It’s from…to…”At this time, present two answers and ask Ps to choose the right one.. 2) Ask Ps to practice the conversation. 3) Show the picture about the seasonal division, and ask Ps to make the similar conversations, and then practice in pairs.
2. Show pictures of different things, like a green leaf, a yellow leaf, a red flower and a white flower to review the words about colors, like green, yellow, white and red, and the sentence structure “What color is ….” And then lead out the sentence structures “A: What color is spring? B: It’s green because plants grow.”
3. Teach the phrase plants grow
in the sentence, and Ps learn and sense it by doing the related action. Then ask Ps to practice by a chant: Spring, spring, plants grow.
4. Teach the features of summer and the phrases in the same way. 5. Lead Ps to talk about the features of autumn by a question: What’s autumn like? Then teach the phrases: wind blows, leaves fall, harvest. Also,
Ps learn and sense it by doing the related action. Then ask Ps to make a similar chant to practice. 6. Show a picture of snowing to teach the word snow, and then teach the features of winter and the reason. Also,
Ps learn and sense it by doing the related action. Then ask Ps to make a similar chant to practice. Step 3 Practice 1. Practice the words and phrases by a chant. 2. Practice the sentence structures by asking Ps to talking about the seasons in the picture that they have, such as:

A: Why? B: Because …
3. Ask some pairs to show their dialogues. Step 4 Conduction Ask Ps to talk about their favorite seasons using the sentences they learn. E.g: My favorite season is spring. It is from March to May. Spring is warm. Plants grow in spring. I can fly a kite in spring . Step 5 Summary
Lead pupils to summarize what they’ve learnt today. And lead them to love nature and enjoy life. Step6 Homework 1. Make an interview about your partner’s favorite season and why. 2. Preview Let’s talk.
