Lesson 5 What Are They Doing?

Teaching aims：

1.

在真实的语境中练习有关现在进行时的句子，通过看图片、唱歌曲、表演歌谣进行操练，能听懂、会说、认读reading the newspaper，playing cards，playing with the baby，drawing, eating, reading, singing, swimming.熟练掌握动词的现在分词变化规则。

2.

在对话中学习使用What are they/we/you doing? They/We/You are doing sth. What is he/she doing? He/She is doing sth. etc. 并能运用此句型进行简单的交流。

3.

在I am doing sth.等句型的帮助下，进一步理解动词现在进行时的概念。

Teaching Steps：

Warming-up Let’s chant. 2.

Presentation T:What is she doing? Ss: She is singing. T:What is he doing? Ss: He is sleeping. What is he/she doing? He/She is drawing, eating, playing ping-pong, swimming, singing, reading, running 3. Practice 4. Look at the picture, where are they? Now look and listen! They are on the train. 5. What are they doing now? A. Listen! B. Repeat without seeing the text! C. Role-play in groups.

D. Can you find the word “newspaper”? What does “news” mean? What does “paper” mean? news + paper = newspaper basket + ball = basketball foot + ball = football 6.Answer the question, then make a dialogue. What is the woman doing now? She is reading the newspaper. What is the man doing now? He is playing cards with his friend. What is the baby doing now? He is playing with Danny. 7.Read and try to find the rules. Look at these words, how to plus “ing” after these words? There are three rules, what are they? Can you find out? Ask the Ss to find out the rules A. 1+1=2 e.g. play plus ing equals playing drawing B. Deleting the silent e, then plus ing. E.g. having dancing C. Double the last letter. E.g. swimming running 8. Seeing is believing. 9.hant: What are they doing? They are drawing / eating / playing ping-pong / swimming / reading. What are you doing? I am drawing / eating / playing ping-pong / swimming / reading. We are drawing / eating / playing ping-pong / swimming / reading. 10.Write the sentences and read. I am ___ing. We are ____ing. 11.Sing a song “What is he / she doing?”

12.Make the sentences. ____is ___ing. He/ She is ____ing.

I am ___ing. You are ____ing. We are ___ing. They are ____ing. 13.Role playing activities Imagine where you are, make a new dialogue with your group members. Then show it to us. 14.Can you find the word “newspaper”? Its stress is on the first syllable, please look at other more words, read after the voices. E. Can you find the word “be’hind”, its stress is on the second syllable, please look at other more words, read after the voices. 15.I am Chinese, You are Chinese. We are Chinese. I love China. You love China. We love China. 16.Singing a song to ending： What are you doing? 17.Homework: Write down your dialogue.

Playing 课后反思：

本课的教学目标是在真实的语境中练习有关现在进行时的句子，通过图片、歌谣、歌曲、对话表演，脱口秀等进行操练。能理解并掌握现在进行时的概念以及各种动词的使用规则。

本课的教学比较顺利地完成了教学目标，通过有梯度的练习和操练，使学生能够在轻松愉悦的语境中学习课文和句型。并且为不同英语水平的学生搭建

了不同的平台。海阔凭鱼跃，天高任鸟飞。让孩子们喜欢英语课，对自己有信心，对未来有希望。本课的亮点是英语文化的渗透，如英文歌曲YOU RAISE ME UP，英语谚语的引入：Seeing is believing.

还有就是爱国主义的渗透，在学习单词Chinese时，引入I love China. We love China. 脱口秀环节更是充分显示了学生学习英语的天赋，，将课堂气氛推向高潮。

不足之处：本课教师不够特别放手，在初始阶段的复习应该放手多让学生主动开口。在讲授

playing cards 时，cards的实物教具出示的不够及时，并且使用的效率不高。书写句子练习不够，听课文模仿练习不够高效。
