Teaching aims:

Learn the comic strip about the two dogs to present the use of “ can ”

and “ can’t”. 2.

Revise vocabulary about helping people in community. 3.

Generate ideas about ways to care for and help others. 4.

Educate the students to be polite and helpful to others.

Step 1. Warming- up 1.Greetings. 2.Lead-in Step 2. Presentation Watch a video about “Superman” Talk about what Superman can do in groups and report to the class. Talk about what dogs can do and can’t do. Step 3. Comic strip Watch get some information from the pictures and then ask questions: 1.

What does Eddie want to do? 2.

Can dogs fly? 3.

What happened to Eddie? 4.

What do you think of Eddie? Listen to the tape and guess the meaning of “Superdog, look out.”

Ask the students to think about the consequences of their daily actions. Guide students to understand what they can do and can’t do. Read and act. Step 4. Learn “ Helping Hands Club”

Free talk: How to be a helpful person? Present pictures about Daniel and his classmates. People have different abilities. Some people use them to help others. What can we do if somebody needs help in the community? A.

Teaching reflection: 本节课的授课对象是初中七年级学生，他们活泼好动，求知欲强、有较强的模仿力，并且很善于表现自己。根据学生这种心理年龄特点，要充分利用网络资源和多媒体优势，调动学生的积极性、主动性和创造性，树立学生主体意识、学生个体意识、努力促进教师的教学方式和学生的学习方式的转变，体现“以生活为本”的现代教育理念和新课程理念。在整个设计中，主要体现一个“活”字。新课程导入自然、活泼、以旧引新、从易到难、抓住重点、突破难点。根据语言交际的原则、英语教学的原则，在做的过程中去体验、去完善技能。因此，本节课首先让学生理解、感知所学内容，然后通过语言实践使教学达到预期的目标。在本节课的教学过程中，我发现学生的潜力是很大的，要充分相信学生，给学生平台去展示，从而提高学生的语言综合运用能力。
