Step1 Preview

1. Ss read the new words and phrases in groups freely.

2. Ask some groups to read the new words and phrases together.

Step 2 Warming-up and lead-in 1. Sing an English song What Are You Doing?

2. Use Wangyuan and Wang Junkai’s chatting interface on WeChat to lead in ING Step 3 Presentation

Teach some new words,phrases,their -ing form and lead in the main sentence pattern.

1. Show a picture with an apartment to the Ss .

turn to page 31 and finish 1a.

Ss match the activities with the pictures.

2. Check the answers with the Ss.

3. Ss underline the basic form of each word.

4. Let’s play a game. There are many phrase cards in the teacher’s hand. When

the teacher takes out one card, Ss should stand up quickly to read the phrases they know loudly.(listening to a CD－I’m listening to a CD.) The teacher will give the fastest group one smile.

5. Ask students some questions by using the phrases in 1a to practice the sentence pattern.

T: What are you doing?

Ss: I am watching TV / listening to a CD / making soup / talking on the phone /

exercising / reading a newspaper / cleaning / using the computer / washing the dishes.

1. T: What are Jenny,John, Dave and Mary doing? Now let’s listen to the recording,

find out the right activities from 1a.

2. Ss listen to the recording and write the numbers from 1a.

3. Ss listen again and complete the sentences.

Step 6 Practice

Ask Ss to speak out what the person is doing in the pictures given by the teacher. (1) T: Who’s she?

Show one card to a student and ask him/her to act it out,then the teacher asks

Step 7 Listening 2

1. Work on 2a.

T: Jack and Steve are good friends.They’re talking on the phone. What are they doing now? Listen to the conversation and match the answers with the questions.

(Play the recording for the first time, students only listen carefully. Then, listen

to the recording again, and match the answers with the questions. )

Check the answers.

Work on 2b.

Let Ss read the conversation in 2b first. Then play the recording for the Ss twice.

The first time Ss only listen and write down the words in the blanks. Then play

Step 8 Group work

1. Ask student A or some students to do the action,then student B asks “what’s he / she doing?”,student C answers the question, student D writes down the dialogue on the blackboard.

2. Present Wang Zixuan’s family photo on the PPT. Ask her to introduce her family to us.
