Do you like the dog in the video? Why? (lovely, friendly, helpful, clever…) What can he do?(do wonderful tricks, skip the rope, skate board…) Step2. Presentation

1. Talk about my hunband’s favourite pet and learn some new words. 2. Play a guessing game. 3. Give explanations of what a poem is by using a poem as an example.

Step3. Reading (My dog)

1. First reading (1) Read the poem by themselves, underline the new words, find its theme and feel its tone.

(2) Answer the following questions.

What is it about? How do you feel after reading it? Sad? Happy? Excited? Stressed (压抑)? 2.

Second reading (1) Ask students to read the poem by following the tape and enjoy the beauty of rhyming. (2) Get students to learn the rhymes in this poem.
