A.知识目标

1、Ss know the meanings of the new words panda、bamboo、lion、king、dangerous、sound、funny、laugh、giraffe、neck、leaf、fan. 2、Ss know the names of animals in the zoo and their features.

1、Ss can read the new words correctly. 2、Ss can discuss the directions and places of animals with the map of the Sunshine Zoo.

C. 情感目标

Ss learn to show directions for others and give the right response to others in groups.

课前预习: 1、Preview the new words. 2、Read the words and the text.

学情分析:

The topic of this unit is “Finding your way”. It’s difficult for Ss to ask for or give directions? Many Ss can’t read the map. And there are 22 new words in the text.

This lesson introduces us a trip to the zoo and helps us know the names of some animals and their features.

教学过程: Step 1 Revision about the directions

1. Show pictures to have a revision. Ask “Where’s the…?”

2. Ss ask and answer in pairs with “……is north of my home.”

Step 2 Lead-in

Tell students “We’re going to have a trip to the Sunshine Zoo today.” Then ask

them to guess “Which animals do you want to see in the zoo?”

Step 3 Presentation﹠Pre-reading

1. Show a picture of pandas and teach the new words: panda bamboo. 2. Show more pictures of other animals to teach more words and phrases. (Write on the blackboard) 3. Communicate with students and let Ss guess “Which animals are they?”

Step 3 While-reading 1. Give the two questions of “How many different kinds of animals in the zoo? And what animals they are?”

Let Ss watch and listen to the text flash and answer them. 2. Ask students to read the text quickly. Then Ss answer “Where are the different animals? ” Ss mark the map. Work in groups. 2. Ask “Which animals do you like best in the zoo? Read them clearly.” Encourage students to read the sentences about their favourite animals. Work in pairs. 3. Read the text again and look at the map, then ask Ss “Where are your favourite animals?” Say something with the words of expressing the directions. 4. Ss read the map and try to answer teacher’s question: “How can I get there?”

Step 4 Post-reading﹠A game 1. Show the map and ask the students to make a dialogue about asking and giving directions. 2. Ss play the game of pointing the ways with the map. Show it in front of class.

Homework

1. Finish the rest of the exercises. 2. Try to retell the text with the map.
