Step1 lead-in

Warm up Watch a video about directions, ask students something about them (活动目的：引起学生对本课内容的兴趣，调动学生的积极性) Step2 Learn the new words and give some advice on finding the way. （活动目的：随文学字，同时教授学生寻路的技巧）

Step3 Comic strip

Listen and answer, read and recite, practice and act out （活动目的：学习本课第一部分，练习口语，增强学生对英语的兴趣和探索）

Step4 Presentation 1.

How to read a map 2. Present the map on the screen. Teach the new words: east, west, north, south

west –south, north –west …

Learn and read. Look and read. Teach Ss learn how to give directions. Pair work Ask students to practice. The teacher can use the screen to add a shop, library, school, youth centre, supermarket, etc.

Step5 Pair work Ask students to make a new dialogue according to part B. Make new dialogues and show. （活动目的：学习本课第三部分，提高学生交流表达的能力及灵活运用知识能力）

A summary after teaching: Giving directions is difficult for students to understand, and they can not remember the directions in a short time. So more practice should be done in the following classes to help them consolidate.
