Unit 1 cultural relics Using language 教学设计

Teaching Goals: 1. To learn to tell facts from opinions. 2. To write a reply letter. 3. To learn to talk about cultural relics. Teaching Procedures: Step 1 Lead-in Dictation Have students write down the words or phrases that they hear on the blanks. 1.There was no doubt that the house belonged to my grandfather. 2. We will look into the matter tomorrow, when the owner will be back. 3. I won’t go there if invited. 4. I’m pleased to have been of any help to you. 5. The girl was highly thought of for her good design. Step 2 New lesson Purpose: To get Ss to know the difference between a fact and an opinion. Read the passage (P5) and answer the following questions: 1. What should a judge do in a trial?

2. What is an evidence? 3. What is a fact? 4. What is an opinion? Definition A fact must be real, objective and without a personal judgment. So it can be proved. An opinion always expresses one’s own ideas. It is always subjunctive. So it has not been proved. Practice: Decide whether they are facts or opinions: 1. A Mazda6 can go faster than 100kms an hour. (Fact) 2. I think it’s the best car for a family. (Opinion) 3. I think driving a car is wrong because it causes damage to the environment. (Opinion) 4. I don’t like public transport because it’s so crowded.

(Opinion) 5. I know that driving a car pollutes the air in Beijing.(Fact) 6. The Beijing Olympic Games will be the best ever. (Opinion) 7. It will be very hot when the Olympic Games are being held. (Fact) 8. More countries than ever before will be coming to take part in the Olympic Games. (Fact)

Step 3 Guided reading 1. Read the passage and define what evidence is. 2. Read the passage and translate each paragraph into Chinese. 3. Read and underline all the useful expressions or collocations in the part. 4.Listen to the tape and fill in the forms (P5). As we know, people have never stopped searching for the Amber Room. This time we'll listen to what three people say they know about the missing Amber Room. Get Ss to share their forms and tell what are facts and what are opinions in the three forms. 5.

Language points(略) Step 4. Discussion Questions for the discussion: 1.Who do you think the Amber Room belongs to? 2.What should you do with things you have found even if the search cost you time and money? 3.Do you agree with Johann? Step 5 Writing Write a report on your debate according to the demand of part 4 of P7. Step 6. Homework 1.Finish the exercises in the workbook so as to consolidate what

has been learned. 2.Search some information about evidence and opinion. 3. Prepare for the next class.
