StepⅠ

Warming up The 21st

century is the century of information technology. Lead the students to the topic by introducing IT and asking “what IT consists of”. In order to let the students have a better understanding about IT, the teacher will show them some pictures about IT. Step Ⅱ

Listening

1.

Pre-listening Do a quize. Help the students revise and memorize some key words and enable them to memorize the words as many as possible. By doing this, students will have a better understanding about the questions.

While-listening

Task 1

Ask the students to listen to the tape carefully. Give them several minutes to write down the main idea in one sentence. Play the tape for the first time. Then check the sentences they write.

Task 2

What does IT include? What is the most popular form of IT?

Listen to the first part again and fill in the chart, Part A. Play Part A, check the answers. Task 3 Which form of IT describes the skills of a sport best? Which form of IT has the most functions? Listen to the second part again and fill in the chart, Part B. Play Part B, check the answers. [Play the tape once again and retell the key and hard points of the

listening materials if necessary.]

Step Ⅲ

Discussion Get students to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of each form of IT in groups, using the reasoning expressions. Then decide which kind of IT is the most useful.

Homework 1. Listen to the tape once again.
