Unit 3 What Will You Do This Summer? Lesson 13 Summer Is Coming! Part 1 Teaching aims 1.

The aim of knowledge and ability To grasp the new word: fan; To learn and use the sentence “In summer, I like to…”;

To describe what happens to trees in different seasons. 2.

The aim of process and method I will use the methods of group conversation and group discussion to help the students grasp the knowledge. 3.

The aim of emotion To arouse the students’ interests of learning English and to help them to know the beauty of the seasons. Then make the students love the nature. Part 2 Teaching important points and difficult points Important points: to grasp the new word “fan”.

Difficult points: to describe what happens to trees in different seasons and use the sentence “In summer, I like to…” expertly.

Part 3 Teaching design 1.

Warming up Sing a song together about winter and ask the students questions about the date and weather. By doing this, the students can relax and be interested in the new lesson. The questions are as follows: T: Good morning, everyone.

How are you? How many days are there in a week?

How many weeks are there in a month? How many months are there in a year? How many seasons are there in a year? What are they? Ss: …

T: Wonderful! You know so much about seasons. And today we will learn more about seasons. 2.

Review Show the word cards of the four seasons. And ask questions. The practice can provide situations to review learned knowledge for the next step. T: What’s your favourite season?

Ss: My favourite season is…

3. Presentation and practice

First, ask questions and show the pictures of the characteristics about the four seasons. T: How’s the weather in different seasons? Ss:

Winter is cold and snowy.

Spring is warm and rainy.

Summer is hot and sunny.

Autumn is cool and windy. Next, let the students discuss in pairs: In different seasons, what happens to trees? And colour the trees on the printed pictures. Then check their answers and award the best groups.

At last, let the students listen to the tape and answer the questions: “What does Jenny / Li Ming like to do?” in Part 2. And learn the new word: fan. This can improve the students’ ability of listening. Part 4 Practice

Divide Ss into groups of three children. Each group should finish the printed charts by asking and answering the questions: What’s your favorite season?

How’s the weather about the season?

What happens to trees in the season? What do you like to do in the season? Find out which group finishes fast and correct.

Part 5 Conclusion Make the students be teachers to conclude what they have learned. This can improve their enthusiasm and ability of expression.

Part 6 Teaching design Ask and answer the sentences they have learned and write a passage about “My Favourite Season”.

Part 8 Rethink

In my lesson, I do my best to create the situations for the students to listen, say, read and write. And the students can put themselves into the whole class. However, I need to give more chances to the students to use the learned sentences to express.
