教学设计

Analysis about the text

The purpose of this unit is to broaden students’ international horizon by introducing Australia in the aspects of geography, culture, tourism and some wildlife. By learning this unit, students can not only enlarge their English language knowledge but also get improved in their humanities.

Analysis about students’ level

My students are Senior one students and this text is designed for Senior two students, so it should be a little difficult to understand the passage. In order to help students understand the text better, I need to ask students to preview the text thoroughly and help them to pronounce new words correctly. Teaching aims: 1. To make students understand the passage by doing three kinds of exercise, such as finding out the main idea of each paragraph, answering relative questions and summarizing the passage 2. To enable students to acquire some knowledge about Australia’s dangerous animals and finally

realize Australia actually is not a dangerous place 3. To build up students’ interest in learning English by carrying out the following activities, such as searching for information about whether Australia is a dangerous place to visit on the Internet in advance, carrying out an informal debating in class and putting what students have learned into practice by writing a reply to give some advice on whether Li Haidi should go to the wild for a visit or stay in the city of Sydney Key points 1. To make students understand the passage 2. To enable students to acquire some knowledge about Australia’s dangerous animals Difficult point To apply what we have learned to practice. 2 The reasons for disagreeing

Dear________ I am thinking of going on a camping trip in the Northern Territory of Australia. The trip is organized by a well-known tourist company with a good reputation. We will be camping some of the time in Darwin and some of the time in Kakadu National Park. It sounds like lots of fun and I would see lots of wildlife, but I’ve heard so much about the dangerous creatures in Australia that I’m a bit scared about going out of the city. Perhaps I’d be better staying in Sydney. I know there are lots of interesting things to see there too. What do you think I should do? Best wishes, Li Haidi

Ask Ss a question: What problem does Li Haidi have?

Dear Li Haidi,

Thanks for your letter and I am very glad to give you some advice about whether to go on a camping trip in the Northern Australia. In my opinion, it is _______________________________
