教学内容分析：

This section presents three verbal jokes and a funny story about Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson for students to read and enjoy. The reading material is quite short but can arouse students’

interest in English learning. Moreover, listening part provides students with another funny story about jam and then practice their listening skills by listening for the gist and listening for the details. It also gives students an opportunity to input some key expressions and output the language by acting. 学生情况分析：

The students are willing to learn this section as it provides many funny materials. They will enjoy the pleasure of language as well as obtain some key expressions. This section gives students an opportunity to have fun in appreciating English. In this section, students are also expected to improve their reading strategies as well as listening strategies. 2．

Step I warming-up

Task 1: Show students some funny jokes which conclude puns. Q1. What day of the week is the best for having fried foods? Q2. What month do soldiers hate?

Q3. What is the smallest room in the world?

Task 2: Discussion: What is pun? To understand the meaning of pun. Step II Reading

Task 1: Read the jokes and match the explanation with each joke. 1 C: What’s that fly doing in my soup?

W: Swimming. I think!

2. C: What’s that?

W: It’s bean soup. C: I don’t want to know what it’s been. I want to know what it is now.

3. C: Waiter. Will the pancakes belong? W: No, sir. Round. Explanation: A. The first person is asking for information about time. The second person treats it as a question about shape.

B. The first person is angry about something and wants to say “Why is this here?”

The second person treats it as a request for information and gives an answer to the question. C. The answer to the question contains a word which, when spoken, can have two meanings. Task 2: Read more jokes and one funny story and find out the implicit meaning. Task 3:Read the story of Jokes about Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson and answer the questions.
