Unit 4 Reading - How Life Began on the Earth

Teaching and learning aims: 1.

To master some useful words and expressions. 2.

To learn about the development of the earth and life. 3.

To practice some reading skills like skimming(跳读), scanning(浏览) and intensive reading(精读). •

Emotional goal: To arouse the awareness(意识) of protecting the environment.

Teaching Steps: Step 1. Leading-in

The teacher leads in the topic of this unit.

Step 2. Pre-reading a.

A small talk about the Big Bang theory and the solar system.

To read some Useful words and expressions.

Step 3. While-reading Task 1. To listen to the record of the text and choose the correct answer.

Task 2. To find the main idea for each paragraph. Task 3. True(T) or false(F) questions.

Task 4. To fill in the chart.

Task 5. To read again and answer the questions. Task 6. To fill in the blanks in the short passage based on the reading text.
