Unit 6 I’m tall

Lesson 32 一、Analysis of the teaching material In this part,Lisa and Li Yan talk about their toy animals with new words long and short at home. Based on the words and sentence learned in last class, this time, students should continue to use “It has...”and big, small to describe the shape of animals exactly and fluently.

二、Analysis of the students and their learning condition Students have learned “big” and“small” in the last period, and they are very interested in the topics about animals. So they can be easily attracted by this part. Teaching Aims 1.Students should master the words “long” , “short” and

use the sentence “A rabbit has long ears and a short tail” to introduce animals. 2.Students should develop the ability to describe an animal completely in English exactly through the pair work and

group work.. 3. Students ought to raise their awareness of love and protect animals through the activities in this class. 三、Teaching Important Points 1.

Sentence: A rabbit has long ears and a short tail. 四、Teaching Difficult Point To instruct students to describe an animal or an object completely and fluently in English. 五、Teaching Aids word cards, PPT, VCD, stickers, picture cards and toy animals. 六、Teaching Procedures Step One:Warming up and Revision 【Activity】:Sing and talk with the students according to the pictures on the screen. T:look, it’s a hippo. It has a big mouth and two small eyes.

Ss: say the sentences together. T:The hippo is very big.

And today, Lucy comes to Li Yan’ s home. Le’s look and listen, what are they talking about? 【Aim】:to warm students up and review big and small in lesson 31. Step Two

Analysis of the dialogue

【Activity】First: Watch the flash. They are talking about their toy monkey and rabbit.(put the pictures of rabbit and monkey on the blackboard) Second: Read together after the tape. 【Aim】: Through the two questions, students can get the main idea of the dialogue and can understand the situation better which is good for their later study of the words and sentences. 【Activity】Third: Open the books and read after.

Fourth: Read the first two sentences again and answer:What does the monkey look like?

Write the sentence “A rabbit has long ears and a short tail” on the blackboard. Students should learn to read “long” and “short”, and they have

to know how to write “long”.

Fifth:

Read the last two sentences and answer: What does the rabbit look like ?

Write the sentence “ A monkey has a big mouth and a long tail.” This time, ask two students to write “big” and “long” on the blackboard.

Sixth: Read the dialogue again together. 【Aim】Students should look at the book and read to maintain a better understanding of the dialogue, and through reading by looking at the book, students can get to know how to write and use the new word “long” correctly.What’s more, by reading again after the video, students can get a more authentic English pronunciation and intonation. 【Activity】Seven: Role-play

Read the dialogue by themselves and divide students into two groups to act the dialogue 【Aim】: Students can feel the text more specifically through their role-play. Step Three: 【Activity】First: students are asked to finish the papers on their desks to make sure they know how to write “long”, to match the body parts with the right animals and review “big” and “small”. Then read sentences according to the results.

Second: Chant

Third: Instruct students to talk about their body parts and divide them into two groups based on the single form and plural form.

Fourth: Check

【Aim】:Through this activity, students can master the word “long” and students can figure out the single form and plural form of body parts, to make sure they can use them correctly in the future. Step Four: Consolidation

【Activity】First:

Play a guessing game.

One student stand in front of the classroom and guess what animals they are according to the description of the other students.

【Aim】: To instruct students to use “big”, “small”, “long”, “short” and the two sentences to describe the animals freely in English.

Second: Can you talk? After the guessing game, students master more about how to describe an animal. Students can

describe the toy animals in pairs and report in front of the classroom. 七、Homework

九、After-class Thinking Lesson 32 is the second lesson of Unit 6. Students have learned “big” , “small” and “It has ....” to describe an animal in lesson 31. In this class, students are instructed and encouraged to use “long”, “short”,“big”

, “small”

and “It has ....”

together to describe an animal. I instruct them to watch the flash, read after the tape, role-play, chant, guess and talk freely to get better understanding of lesson 32 and use the words and sentence to describe animals step by step through the activities.

They have enough opportunity to feel and imitate the authentic English. But, it’s a pity that I forget to check their results of the papers. And as a matter of fact, students can have more time to describe something more and I can give students some time to make new chant which will be more effectively. 十、Comments on this class 这是一节精通版四年级英语上册Unit 6 I’m tall. Lesson32的一节新授课,主要学习单词long,short 和 it has .... 的句型,进一步理解句子A rabbit has long ears and a short tail. 通过学习让学生能用英语简单的描述小动物。通过对比了解has区别于have的用法,对单复数名词的特征进行初步的学习和运用。教师在课堂热身活动中,利用唱英语歌曲,在短短的几分钟时间内,让学生融入英语课堂环境中,然后直接进入课文的学习。对于课文的理解和运用该教师注重了学生的整体感知,先设计几个对课文整体理解有帮助的问题,通过听录音或看课文卡通片,让学生整体感知课文,帮助学生理解整体情景后再学习单词句型,最后让学生跟读、分角色读、创编对话,让学生在读中感知语法,在读中领悟新句型的运用。本节课通过小组合作,师生游戏互动,直观的图片和玩具情景创设等形式,激励学生的学习英语的兴趣和积极性,让学生感知、模仿、学习、体验,达到自然交流与真实运用的目的,最终达到提高学生在真实情景中运用英语的能力,同时也激发学生热爱、保护小动物的思想感情。总之,本节课能较好的完成教学任务和目标,教学效果较好。
