I.

Analysis of the Teaching Content The topic of this unit centers on cloning. In this course, we will focus on the warming up and reading part of this unit. It mainly talks about the significance, classification and the effects of cloning, which will make the students have a clear understanding of cloning. At the same time, it will build students' moral awareness and let them realize how to use cloning rightly.

Analysis of Target Students There are 50 students in the classroom and they are all in the first year of high school in the urban areas. They have learned English for some years，which let them have some foundations of learning the language that can make the lesson efficient；However, the students don’t have a complete scientific method of learning language and sometimes think of the matter in their own opinion. Before this class, they may have known something about science, but they know little of the particular cases of cloning, the students are not experts after all. As for the learning motivation, the students have the curiosities and interests to learn everything new and interesting, which will encourage them to explore more new knowledge and experience something new, but they will get bored 4

and lose their interests if the new knowledge is too boring and hard to understand.

Teaching Reflection

In this class, it practices the students’ speaking ability, so they can improve their spoken English. Meanwhile, it can encourage students to carry out group work, so they can share information with each other and develop their cooperative spirits; however, time is limited, we only have 40 minutes for a class, so we don’t have enough time to do reading, listening and writing parts. They are not enough, so we will have some reading, listening and writing tasks next class. At that time, it will practice students’ other abilities. All in all, Teachers’ role is not only to teach knowledge, but also to cultivate student’s interests and abilities to learn something new, that’s also the reason why we have many activities in the class.
